Both games keep the series’ tactile, object-focused puzzle solving. If the Null mystery matters to you, play The Room Two first; the publisher describes The Room Three as following its events, though that continuity is not evidence that the earlier game is a gameplay prerequisite.

How do the stories connect?
The Room Two continues the Null mystery
Fireproof Games describes The Room Two as continuing the first game’s time-spanning journey while beginning to unravel the mystery surrounding the Null. Its story therefore carries forward the series’ central mystery rather than starting from an unrelated premise.
The Room Three picks up after it
Fireproof says The Room Three follows the events of The Room Two: the player’s search for the Null leads to a remote island and its mysterious mansion. Steam’s description adds a new opposing presence, the Craftsman, who devises trials for the player. The setting and antagonist give the sequel a distinct frame for the continuing search.
What is different about the puzzles and exploration?
The Room Two: puzzle play across locations
The official description emphasizes that The Room Two expands the series’ puzzle gameplay across locations. Its time-spanning journey provides the setting for that broader scope, while the game remains rooted in the series’ tactile, object-centered approach.

The Room Three: a larger world around the puzzles
Steam describes The Room Three as continuing the tactile puzzle-solving of its predecessors while considerably expanding the world players can explore. In practical terms, the most solidly supported distinction is not a wholesale change in puzzle mechanics, but a broader explorable setting: an island, a mansion, and the Craftsman’s trials.
The available descriptions do not establish a puzzle-by-puzzle inventory or prove that every puzzle mechanic is new in The Room Three. Nor do they support a reliable ranking of which game is harder. Choose based on the documented shift in setting and exploration, rather than assuming a specific difficulty jump.

Which game should you play first?
If you want the Null story in order, play The Room Two before The Room Three. That recommendation follows from Fireproof’s stated story continuity; it is not a documented requirement for understanding the sequel’s controls or solving its puzzles. If you are choosing mainly for setting and scope, The Room Three is the one defined by the remote island mansion and its expanded world.
