The Saboteur of Paradise is a main quest in The Outer Worlds 2 that takes you from investigating de Vries in Fairfield to infiltrating the Vox Relay and choosing where it crashes. Before entering the Relay, finish any Fairfield or Westport quests you want to keep and decide which faction’s quest chain to pursue: the reported Milverstreet and Kaur paths are mutually exclusive. The route you take can depend on your side-quest progress, equipment and Speech skills; the final destination can affect settlements and Inez.
Before you enter the Vox Relay
Do not treat the Relay as an isolated objective. Game8’s November 5, 2025 search-result excerpt warns that proceeding can fail unfinished Fairfield or Westport quests and may cost you Inez if Fairfield is not spared. It also says Inez recruitment requires completing an appropriate lead before the Relay. Check your quest log and finish the town content and companion steps you care about before committing.
Choose a faction quest line first
Game8 reports that Milverstreet’s “A Refreshing Bit of News” and “The Brain Benders of Auntie’s Choice!” conflict with Kaur’s “Above and Beyond Repair” and “Ascent in the Howling Tower.” Choose which chain to pursue before taking the other faction’s route toward the Relay. The same excerpt associates Milverstreet with a Writ of Conscription and a lower-combat approach, and Kaur with a Gas-Energy Deflection Apparatus and a more combat-heavy route.

| Approach | What it takes | Trade-off |
|---|---|---|
| Western gas route | PCGamesN says the gas requires a shield obtained through the repair-center quests “The Saga of Malfunctioning Mechanicals” and “An Aegis Against The Miasma.” | The route can continue via Skycutter Tower or toward the guarded front entrance, according to the guide. It requires side-quest investment and the shield. |
| Bridge | “For Whom the Bridge Tolls” can provide passage; fighting the guards is an alternative. PCGamesN also describes using a Writ of Conscription and Speech 3 to persuade the entrance guard. | It offers a dialogue-based option if you have the Writ and the reported Speech level; otherwise, expect to deal with the guards. |
| Raptidon Den pipe | PCGamesN links this route to Inez’s side quest. After clearing the Raptidons, it advises speaking to Cadet Warden Atarah for an armory key. | It provides an entry through the den but depends on the associated quest progress. The guide does not specify a skill requirement. |
| Kaur and Skycutter Tower | Kaur’s quests lead through the repair center and Skycutter Tower. PCGamesN says disabling the Relay’s defenses opens another route. | The guide describes combat along this path. Game8 associates Kaur’s faction chain with the Gas-Energy Deflection Apparatus. |
Game8’s search excerpt characterizes Milverstreet’s Writ route as an option for reaching the Relay with minimal combat and Kaur’s gas-shield route as more combat-oriented. These faction chains are reported to be mutually exclusive, so weigh access to the quests and equipment against the approach you want.
Deal with Corbin and Montelli
Try to secure Corbin’s cooperation
PCGamesN says earlier interaction with Corbin may enable cooperation; without relevant information or sufficient Speech, you may have to fight him. Game8’s excerpt describes Writ of Conscription dialogue or Speech checks as possible ways to gain his help. It reports that Corbin’s assistance plus Speech 5 is required for Montelli to surrender. Treat those thresholds as guide-reported conditions, since the detailed Game8 page was not accessible and requirements may depend on your prior choices.
Game8 also reports that, if Corbin helps, you can use Montelli’s terminal and read its entries to unlock additional dialogue.
Fight Montelli
PCGamesN describes Montelli as a boss encounter and recommends using cover at the back of the arena, then closing the distance when the electrified walkways change the engagement. If you enter combat, watch the walkway hazards and use cover rather than crossing exposed ground without a plan.
Choose the Vox Relay’s crash destination
PCGamesN and Game8 list Fairfield, Westport and space as destinations. PCGamesN reports that the space option requires Hack 4. The consequences below are guide-reported; check the game’s available choices and your current quest state before confirming.
| Destination | Reported consequence | Access or caveat |
|---|---|---|
| Fairfield | PCGamesN says the crash kills Fairfield’s residents and causes Inez to leave later. Game8 also warns of Inez and town-quest consequences. | Avoid this if you want to preserve Fairfield’s residents or keep Inez, according to the guides. |
| Westport | The guides list Westport as an option; the materials do not establish a specific casualty or Inez outcome for this destination. | Game8 warns that unfinished Westport quests can fail if you proceed to the Relay. The materials do not state a skill check for choosing Westport. |
| Space | PCGamesN recommends this option when available. The guides do not report settlement casualties for it. | PCGamesN reports Hack 4 is required. It also mentions a Luck-trait option but says its effect was unclear. |
What completing the quest unlocks
Game8’s November 5, 2025 search-result excerpt reports that completing the quest unlocks Planet Dorado and Free Market Station through the Astrogator, and awards the Vexed the Vox silver trophy. PCGamesN confirms the quest’s main-story role but does not independently confirm those specific rewards.
