The quest may be missable, and its order can affect other missions, so start it before completing The Brain Benders of Auntie’s Choice!
How to start The Saga of the Malfunctioning Mechanicals
- Go to Westport on Paradise Island and find Vigilant Hogarth.
- Speak with Hogarth and offer to help with the settlement’s mechanical problem. This starts the quest.
Game8 describes the quest as missable and warns that nearby quest order can matter. If you want to complete it, talk to Hogarth before advancing The Brain Benders of Auntie’s Choice! (Game8’s quest guide).

How to enter the Automech Repair Center
The repair center is south of Westport. The documented pass route takes you through the Ministry of Accuracy; a guide-reported skill-check route may let you bypass the pass.

Option 1: Print an ARC Pass
- Go to the Ministry of Accuracy and clear the Raptidons inside and around the building.
- Reach the second-floor terminal. Climb to the rafters and cross the broken walkway to get to it.
- Use the terminal to print the ARC Pass.
- At the Automech Repair Center entrance, show the pass to Cade Tierny.
Option 2: Use reported skill checks
Game8 reports an Engineering 3 check at the entrance as one way in. Neoseeker describes another route using Engineering 2 followed by Speech 3. These are guide-reported checks; dialogue and quest state may affect which options appear. Neither route is established as universally available for every character or game state (Game8; Neoseeker).

Where to find the Automech Replacement Parts
- Once inside the repair center, make your way to the compound area.
- Look for the building near the infirmary. The nearby landmarks described by Game8 are a broken robot beside a lamppost, a blue door, and an orange climbable box.
- Use the orange box to climb onto the roof and collect the Automech Replacement Parts.
PCGamesN identifies this rooftop as Delphinia’s lab. Speaking with Hazel and Delphinia can provide additional context, including a connection to An Aegis Against The Miasma (PCGamesN’s guide).
Return the parts to Hogarth
Take the parts back to Hogarth in Westport and hand them over to finish the quest. Game8 reports a reward of 1,080 XP and the unique repeater rifle Emergency Stop (Game8).

A Writ of Conscription is also reported, but Neoseeker says it depends on agreeing to speak with Corbin and kill Montelli. Do not assume the Writ is guaranteed if you choose a different outcome. The guide notes that the Writ can help with access to the Vox Relay in a later quest (Neoseeker).

Game8 advises completing this quest before finishing The Brain Benders of Auntie’s Choice!, warning that Hogarth may move to Fairfield and the quest can become softlocked. Separately, Obsidian’s November 11, 2025 Patch 1.0.5.0 notes say a specific sequence—visiting the Vox Relay and then completing this quest—could block continuation of Brain Benders, and that the issue was fixed (Obsidian’s Patch 1.0.5.0 notes).

That patch note documents a fix for the Vox Relay sequence; it does not establish that every possible quest-order problem is impossible in all later game states. The cautious route is to speak to Hogarth and complete this quest before finishing Brain Benders.
