If Get Junior stops progressing, first check the exact objective in your journal and whether another related quest is active. The right fix depends on where you are: CD PROJEKT RED has documented several distinct historical quest issues, and Patch 4.04 specifically changed an obstacle in the Oxenfurt sewers. For PC, the developer’s general troubleshooting advice is to verify the game files and then try a save from before the problem.
Start with the objective that is actually stuck
Open the quest journal and note the current Get Junior objective and your location. “Search Whoreson Junior’s residence” or another vague-looking journal entry does not, by itself, establish that the quest is bugged. The developer’s troubleshooting guidance says a related quest may need to be completed before progress resumes.
- Record the journal wording and location. Note what you have already done and whether the issue began after reloading or updating.
- Check the journal for a related quest. Complete it if the game has made it active before returning to Get Junior.
- Match the problem to its location. In particular, check whether you are blocked in the Oxenfurt sewers, where Patch 4.04 addressed a specific obstacle.
CD PROJEKT RED’s general quest troubleshooting guidance is available on its quest progression support page.
If you are stuck in the Oxenfurt sewers
Make sure the game is updated. CD PROJEKT RED’s Patch 4.04 announcement says: “Get Junior – Removed an unnecessary body of water from Oxenfurt sewers.” The patch was announced as live on all platforms, including Nintendo Switch. That note confirms a change to this specific sewer obstacle; it does not establish that every sewer-related blockage has the same cause or is resolved by that fix.

What older patch notes say about Get Junior
Historical patch notes record several separate progression fixes. They are useful for identifying what a problem resembles, but they should not be treated as confirmation that the same defect is present in current versions.

| Recorded issue | What the patch history establishes |
|---|---|
| Quest completion or Roche movement | Historical notes report fixes for occasions when players could not complete Get Junior and for Vernon Roche staying at camp instead of going to the Oxenfurt Bridge. See the Steam-hosted patch announcements. |
| Arena torch | The Patch 1.10 changelog records a fix for an arena torch that could not be interacted with to unlock the secret stash. See the Patch 1.10 changelog. |
| Casino second floor | The Patch 1.10 changelog also records a fix for Cleaver’s thugs appearing on the casino’s second floor even though they had not been encountered outside. See the Patch 1.10 changelog. |
These notes describe past fixes, not a current-build diagnosis. If your situation seems to match one, note your platform and game version when seeking help rather than assuming the old defect is still present.
PC troubleshooting: verify files and try an earlier save
For PC players, CD PROJEKT RED recommends verifying the game files and then loading a save made before the progression problem began. Keep a copy of your current save before testing an earlier one.

- Preserve your current save. The support article lists the PC save folder as
%userprofile%DocumentsThe Witcher 3gamesaves. - Verify the game files. Use the file-integrity option for the store or launcher through which you installed the game.
- Load a save from before the issue. Check whether the objective progresses from that point.
- If it remains stuck, contact CD PROJEKT RED support. Provide the quest name, save file, platform and game version, and disclose whether you used mods, console commands, or trainers.
The cited verification and save-folder instructions are PC-specific. They are not steps for PlayStation, Xbox, or Switch; console players should identify their platform when contacting support and use the relevant platform guidance.

- The exact active journal objective and where you are in the quest.
- Your platform and game version.
- What you have already completed and whether a related quest is active.
- A save file that shows the problem, if you can provide one.
- Whether mods, console commands, or trainers have been used.
Providing those details gives support a specific state to investigate instead of treating every missing objective as the same issue.
