Dragon Age: Inquisition begins with a cataclysm that throws Thedas into turmoil. As the Inquisitor, you work to restore order, lead a party, and confront demons and other agents of chaos. BioWare describes it as a story-driven open-world action RPG focused on complex characters and difficult decisions. Which story premise may suit you?
- Choose The Witcher 3 if you want to follow a strongly defined protagonist on a focused, personal mission.
- Choose Inquisition if you prefer playing a leader whose decisions and party are part of a larger struggle.
That distinction comes from the games’ official premises; it is not a ranking of their stories.

How does combat differ?
The Witcher 3: Geralt-centered monster hunting
Combat in The Witcher 3 is framed around Geralt and his work as a monster slayer. The current edition detail matters: CD PROJEKT RED announced that The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Remastered became available on September 29, 2026. The update adds refreshed animations, new finishers, an adaptive camera, and a reimagined skill system. Dragon Age: Inquisition: action RPG with a party
BioWare describes Inquisition as an action RPG with challenging combat, and EA’s official product material presents the Inquisitor alongside followers and a party of heroes. That supports a party-oriented comparison, but not a detailed claim about tactical-camera controls or companion AI behavior. The useful distinction is therefore structural: Geralt is at the center of Witcher’s combat framing, while Inquisition puts a party within its action-RPG setup. Which combat framing may suit you?
- Try The Witcher 3 if a combat experience centered on one monster-hunting protagonist sounds appealing, particularly with the Remastered changes.
- Try Inquisition if you want action-RPG combat presented alongside a party of companions.

Start with the kind of role you want to inhabit rather than trying to crown a winner from their combat labels. If you want Geralt’s personal search, choose The Witcher 3. If you want to lead the Inquisition and its party through a world-scale emergency, choose Dragon Age: Inquisition. For combat, make the parallel choice: Geralt-centered monster hunting or an action RPG presented with a party.
