The published Path Tracing target for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Remastered is 4K at 60 FPS, using DLSS and Frame Generation. CD PROJEKT RED lists an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5080 with 16 GB VRAM, an Intel Core i9-13900K or AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D, 24 GB RAM, and a 60 GB SSD for that tier. This is a high-end target—not the minimum needed to play the game.
Which version do these requirements apply to?
These specifications are for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Remastered, released September 29, 2026 for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2. CD PROJEKT RED says owners of a previous physical or digital version can upgrade for free within the same platform ecosystem. The updated PC requirements apply to Remastered; do not use them as a direct substitute for requirements for the older 4.04 or 1.32/Classic versions. The Remastered PC announcement lists Path Tracing, NVIDIA DLSS 4.5 with Ray Reconstruction, AMD FSR 4 with Frame Generation and Anti-Lag 2, and Intel XeSS 2.0 with Frame Generation and Low Latency. It says FSR 4 is supported on Radeon RX 7000 Series and newer, while unsupported GPUs use FSR 2 instead. The announcement also identifies Ray-Traced HairWorks.
What are the published PC requirements?
The table below reproduces the tiers in CD PROJEKT RED’s updated requirements table, as reported by PC Gamer. They are developer targets based on QA testing, not guaranteed results or independent benchmark findings. CD PROJEKT RED cautions that performance varies with the scene, gameplay, hardware configuration, graphics settings, and output resolution.

Can my PC run Path Tracing?
Compare your system against the Path Tracing row only if your goal is its stated 4K/60 FPS target. The RTX 5080 recommendation does not mean every player needs that card: the table separately lists 1080p Minimum and Recommended tiers, a 1440p Ultra tier, and two ray-tracing tiers.
- Resolution and frame rate: Match your intended output resolution and FPS to a tier; higher output resolution significantly affects frame rate.
- Effects tier: Distinguish standard graphics settings from ray tracing and Path Tracing. The RT tiers are separate from the Path Tracing tier.
- Upscaling and Frame Generation: The Path Tracing target assumes both are enabled. CD PROJEKT RED does not state the exact DLSS quality mode or Frame Generation multiplier for that row, so the published target does not establish performance for a specific mode.
- Other components: Check the listed CPU, VRAM, system RAM, and SSD requirement as well as the GPU. Matching one component alone does not establish that a PC will meet the target.
CD PROJEKT RED also states that a GTX 1660 can achieve 60 FPS or higher at Minimum settings. Treat that as the developer’s 2026 statement for the Minimum tier, not as a Path Tracing result or a guarantee for every scene and configuration.

Does Path Tracing require a different setup from ray tracing?
Yes. The 2026 table separates RT Minimum and RT Recommended from Path Tracing. Path Tracing is listed for 4K/60 FPS with Frame Generation and DLSS; the two RT tiers target 1080p/30 FPS and 1440p/60 FPS, respectively. The table says DLSS/FSR/XeSS Auto for RT Minimum and DLSS/FSR for RT Recommended. Its Path Tracing row does not identify a specific upscaling quality mode or Frame Generation multiplier.
Older coverage may describe the December 2022 version 4.0 update, which added ray-traced global illumination and ambient occlusion; compatible PC hardware could also enable ray-traced reflections and shadows. That update added DLSS 3 support for compatible hardware. Patch 4.01 later added a PC performance mode for ray-traced global illumination. These features and updates are historical context, not replacements for the 2026 Remastered requirements. The 2023 Patch 4.04 notes record fixes for ray tracing and DLSS Frame Generation; they are maintenance history rather than current hardware requirements. CD PROJEKT RED’s updated requirements page says players can revert to earlier versions on supported platforms.

Is an SSD required, and is Windows 10 supported?
Yes, the updated requirements list 60 GB of SSD storage in every tier. CD PROJEKT RED says an SSD is now required to support the game’s technical enhancements, including faster loading and smoother asset streaming. The developer no longer officially supports Windows 10: it says the game may still run on that operating system, but it is no longer developed or tested there, and future compatibility or performance cannot be guaranteed.
