For The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Remastered, the current Steam minimum is Windows 11, a Core i5-8400 or Ryzen 5 2600, 12 GB RAM, a GTX 1660, RX 5500 XT 8 GB, or Arc A580, and 60 GB of SSD space. Steam’s recommended tier steps up to a Core i7-8700K or Ryzen 5 3600X, 16 GB RAM, and an RTX 2060 Super, RX 6600 XT, or Arc B580. These are the store’s baseline tiers; higher resolutions and ray tracing call for more capable hardware. Steam’s current listing covers the Remastered edition released September 29, 2026.
What are The Witcher 3 PC requirements?
The table below reflects the current Steam listing for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Remastered, not the original 2015 release. Within each CPU or graphics row, the listed models are alternatives, not components that must be installed together.

These component names indicate the level Steam specifies; a nearby model is not guaranteed to perform identically. Check your complete PC against the row rather than treating one upgraded component as proof that the system meets the tier.

How to choose hardware for your target
The minimum and recommended rows do not promise a particular resolution, frame rate, or ray-tracing result. Decide what you want to run before buying, because the graphics workload and the techniques used to render it change the hardware target.
#1 Best Overall
- Play as a highly trained monster slayer for hire.
- Built for endless adventure, the massive open world of The Witcher sets new standards in terms of size, depth and complexity.
- The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Game of the Year edition brings together the base game and all the additional content released to date.
- Resolution and frame rate: A higher resolution or frame-rate goal needs more performance than simply meeting a baseline requirement. Do not read “recommended” as a guarantee of a specific result.
- Rendering mode: The Remastered release adds ray-traced local shadows and path tracing as well as native DirectX 12 rendering with multithreading. Ray tracing and path tracing are more demanding targets than the store’s general recommended tier.
- Upscaling and frame generation: Some higher-target configurations assume upscaling, and the most demanding listed target also assumes frame generation. Those are part of the target conditions, not proof that native rendering will reach the same frame rate.
- Whole-system fit: Compare the GPU and its VRAM, CPU, RAM, Windows version, and SSD capacity. An SSD addresses the storage requirement only; it does not compensate for a below-tier CPU or GPU.
Higher resolution and ray-tracing targets
A secondary transcription of the expanded requirements table reports six targets beyond the two Steam rows. Treat these as listed targets, not independent benchmark results or guarantees across every scene. The expanded rows’ provenance is secondary; the official developer announcement confirms the new rendering features and that requirements changed, but its requirements table is an image.
| Target in secondary transcription | Conditions stated | Hardware named |
|---|---|---|
| Minimum | 1080p, Low | Not stated in the transcription details available here |
| High | 1080p / 60 | Not stated in the transcription details available here |
| Ultra | 1440p / 60 | Not stated in the transcription details available here |
| Ray tracing | 1080p / 30 with upscaling | Not stated in the transcription details available here |
| Ray-tracing Ultra | 1440p / 60 with DLSS or FSR | Not stated in the transcription details available here |
| Path Tracing | 4K / 60 with upscaling and frame generation | RTX 5080 and Core i9-13900K or Ryzen 7 9800X3D |
The frame rates above are targets in the transcription, not test results. For the Path Tracing row, the listed RTX 5080 and processor pair illustrate how far that target sits above the general recommended tier; they should not be treated as a universal guarantee of 4K / 60 performance.
What changed from the original Witcher 3 requirements?
The original game’s January 2015 requirements are historical and are not an appropriate buying baseline for Remastered. The developer’s old page listed a minimum Core i5-2500K or Phenom II X4 940, GTX 660 or Radeon HD 7870, 6 GB RAM, 64-bit Windows 7 or Windows 8 (8.1), DirectX 11, and 40 GB storage. Its recommended row named an i7-3770 or FX-8350, GTX 770 or Radeon R9 290, 8 GB RAM, and 40 GB storage. The developer’s original requirements page applies to that earlier version.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:

It describes native DirectX 12 rendering with multithreading, ray-traced local shadows, path tracing, DLSS 4.5 with Ray Reconstruction, FSR 4, and XeSS 2.0. The current Steam rows therefore take precedence over the older Steam listing’s pre-release notice that requirements would change on September 29, 2026.
Rank #3
- Italian edition.
What should you upgrade first?
Use the gap between your system and your chosen target to identify what is actually below spec. Avoid buying a single part based only on the recommended row: a graphics upgrade will not resolve insufficient RAM or an unsupported operating system, and adding storage alone will not raise CPU or GPU performance.
Quick Recap
- Check Windows and disk space. Confirm you have 64-bit Windows 11 and an SSD with at least 60 GB available for the game.
- Compare your CPU and memory. For Steam’s recommended tier, the listed processor alternatives are Core i7-8700K and Ryzen 5 3600X, with 16 GB RAM. The minimum row lists a Core i5-8400 or Ryzen 5 2600 and 12 GB.
- Compare your graphics card and VRAM. The recommended alternatives are RTX 2060 Super, RX 6600 XT, or Arc B580, with 8 GB VRAM listed. If you want ray tracing, path tracing, or a higher-resolution target, consult the expanded target conditions rather than assuming the recommended tier covers it.
- Buy against a defined goal. Match the exact resolution, frame-rate target, rendering mode, and any upscaling or frame-generation assumption to the relevant requirement. These specifications do not establish current component prices, stock, or best value, so check current local listings before purchasing.
