How to start Witcher Wannabe
Witcher Wannabe is a Velen secondary quest tied to Lindenvale. Complete Contract: The Merry Widow, leave the village, and let some in-game time pass before returning. Prima Games says the quest becomes available five days after the contract, while Gamer Guides suggests roughly a week. Treat it as a delayed trigger rather than a guaranteed exact timer.
When the quest is available, speak with the ealdorman near the Lindenvale signpost. He complains about a supposed Witcher, which starts the quest.
Find the fake Witcher

Travel east from Lindenvale to the cemetery.

Defeat the monster encounter at the cemetery. The walkthroughs describe ghouls, with Prima also mentioning wraiths around the church grounds; the encounter details may vary.

Choose an outcome
The decision has two stages: whether you expose the impostor or cover for him, and what consequence you impose afterward. The meaningful difference is his fate and your role-playing preference, not the reported quest experience.

Choose a year of work for the most merciful practical outcome
Covering for the impostor and imposing a year of work gives him a chance to make amends without the risk of severe punishment or permanent expulsion. It is the strongest choice if “best” means the least severe, most constructive consequence.
Turn him over to the ealdorman for accountability
If you think the deception should have consequences decided by the village’s authority, expose him and take him to the elder. This is the accountability-focused option, but the reported consequence can be severe.

Pick conditional mercy or exile to fit your role-play
Exposing him and asking the villagers to spare him results in a warning that he will face the hounds if he returns. Covering for him but banishing him instead means he is exiled. These are alternatives if neither a year of labor nor handing him over fits your Geralt’s judgment.
