Accept the Volatile Flintbeetles Hunt Wish, then search The Marrow for three partially buried Flintbeetles. The map database lists them at X 6401, Y 14525; X 7335, Y 13707; and X 8846, Y 14214. Strike the first two in the ceiling and the third in a wall to make each emerge and begin the encounter.
Before you search: accept the Volatile Flintbeetles Wish
The three locations are gated by the Volatile Flintbeetles Wish. It is available from the Bone Bottom Wishwall after Hornet has visited either Greymoor or Shellwood, according to the Wish entry on the Hollow Knight Wiki. Accept it before checking the locations; otherwise, the beetles may not appear.
All three Flintbeetle locations in The Marrow
The Gamer Guides database lists these map coordinates and describes the beetles’ hiding places:
| Map coordinates | Where to look | How to start the encounter |
|---|---|---|
| X 6401, Y 14525 | Embedded in the ceiling | Strike it to make it drop down. |
| X 7335, Y 13707 | Embedded in the ceiling | Strike it to make it drop down. |
| X 8846, Y 14214 | Embedded in a wall | Strike it to make it emerge. |
These coordinates and hiding-place descriptions come from the Gamer Guides Flintbeetle database entry. Flintbeetles are partly buried, so a marked room can look empty until Hornet gets close or hits the hiding place; the Flintbeetle entry on the Hollow Knight Wiki also describes their buried behavior.

Account for the Bell Beast shortcut
One of the three spawns has an alternate position determined by whether the shortcut after the Bell Beast fight has been opened. The available coordinate listings do not make clear which of the three coordinates above is the alternate. If a listed spot is empty despite having accepted the Wish, check the alternate location shown on your map for the other shortcut state rather than assuming the Wish failed.
Collect three Flintgems to complete the Wish
Each Flintbeetle drops a Flintgem, and the Wish requires three. Defeat all three encounters and collect their drops; the Gamer Guides Flintgem entry lists the item and its Wish requirement.
