A MIXED snapshot of Steam’s global best-seller chart found three games rated Unsupported on Steam Deck but Verified on Steam Machine: Dragon’s Dogma 2, CONTROL Resonant, and The Blood of Dawnwalker. The report says graphics performance was the failing Deck test for all three. These are ratings recorded at 12:42 UTC on October 5, 2026—not independently rechecked live badges.
Which games had different Steam Deck and Steam Machine ratings?
MIXED reported the following three combinations in its October 5, 2026 snapshot of Steam’s global best-seller chart:
- Dragon’s Dogma 2: Unsupported on Steam Deck; Verified on Steam Machine.
- CONTROL Resonant: Unsupported on Steam Deck; Verified on Steam Machine.
- The Blood of Dawnwalker: Unsupported on Steam Deck; Verified on Steam Machine.
For each game, MIXED identified graphics performance as the Deck test failure. The report’s ratings came from Valve’s per-title compatibility endpoint, read at 12:42 UTC on October 5. Compatibility ratings can change after retesting or other changes, so the report establishes what its snapshot showed, not what each store page displays now. MIXED’s October 6 report
Why can a game be Unsupported on Deck but Verified on Machine?
Valve evaluates Steam Deck and Steam Machine compatibility independently. A badge on one device does not automatically determine the other device’s rating. Valve defines Verified as passing all compatibility checks without configuration work needed to access the game’s functionality; Unsupported means the game does not function on that device because of incompatibility with Proton or specific hardware components. The performance thresholds help explain why the same game can receive different results. Valve’s published default floor is 30 fps at 800p on Steam Deck and 30 fps at 1080p on Steam Machine. Those are device-specific criteria, not a claim that either device will achieve the same frame rate in every scene or configuration. MIXED’s report says the three Deck failures were performance-related, but it does not provide game-by-game frame-rate measurements in the cited snapshot.
Steam Machine does not use the same display test
Valve does not perform display tests for Steam Machine because resolution and text size can vary with the connected display. That means a Deck issue involving on-screen text legibility need not count against Machine compatibility. In the three reported cases, however, the failure category was graphics performance rather than display legibility.

What the October 5 top-100 snapshot showed
MIXED counted compatibility ratings for 100 entries on Steam’s global best-seller chart at 12:42 UTC on October 5, 2026. The chart changes during the day, and three entries—Steam Machine, Steam Frame, and Steam Deck—were hardware devices without compatibility ratings. This is a dated chart sample, not a representative survey of the Steam library.
| Rating | Steam Deck | Steam Machine |
|---|---|---|
| Verified | 38 | 47 |
| Playable | 28 | 23 |
| Unsupported | 19 | 15 |
| Unknown | 15 | 15 |
In that sample, ten entries had a better rating on Machine. Six moved from Playable to Verified: Kingdom Come: Deliverance II, ARC Raiders, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, Resident Evil Requiem, HELLDIVERS 2, and Risk of Rain 2. Four of those Deck flags concerned interface text legibility; the other two concerned a default configuration that was not performant. Bodycam moved from Unsupported on Deck to Playable on Machine, while the three games above moved from Unsupported to Verified. Counts and transitions are MIXED’s account of its chart snapshot.

Does Steam Deck Verified guarantee Steam Machine Verified?
Yes. Valve states that any game Verified on Steam Deck is guaranteed to be Verified on Steam Machine. The guarantee works in that direction only: it does not say that a Machine Verified game must also be Deck Verified. MIXED’s October 5 sample had no Deck Verified title that fell short of Verified on Machine. Valve’s Steamworks compatibility criteria

When checking a game for a particular device, use the device-specific badge and the reason attached to it, rather than assuming one rating carries over to another. A performance failure, an input or Proton issue, and a display-legibility flag describe different constraints; some tests may not apply to both devices. The available compatibility detail is therefore more informative than treating Unsupported as a universal statement about every Steam device.
Quick Recap
Rank #4
- Valve is entering the gaming console marketplace with the new Steam Deck, a console geared towards PC gamers. The Steam Deck can be docked to a monitor, and used as a PC, or docked to a TV.
- Players can play a huge variety of games at any time with the comfort of a console and the freedom of a PC. Not anti-glare screen.
- Like the name suggests, the Steam Deck will include upgraded 1TB storage, and will include a carrying case. A micro SD slot will also enable expanded storage.
- Valve partnered with AMD to create a specialized APU optimized for handheld gaming, and Valve says the chip will deliver performance to run AAA gaming titles.
- The Steam Deck is outfitted with a 7-inch touchscreen, and two trackpads under the control sticks that allow gamers to operate games never designed outside of mouse and keyboard capabilities.
