NYT Strands puzzle #245, dated Sunday, November 3, 2024, has the theme clue “In My Kingdom.” Start with the graduated hints below if you want help solving it; the full answer list is farther down behind a spoiler heading.
Hints for the November 3 Strands puzzle
The theme is about categorizing living things. Parade’s guide gives these hint pairs in order:
- DO
- FA
- GE
- PH
- OR
- CL
- SP
- TA — the spangram
The first answer is in the top half of the board. The spangram runs horizontally from left to right.
How Strands hints work
As reported by Parade, The New York Times describes the spangram this way: “The spangram describes the puzzle’s theme and touches two opposite sides of the board. It may be two words.” Theme words fill the board without overlapping, and players make words by dragging or tapping letters. Finding three non-theme words earns a hint: it reveals the letters of a theme word, and if a hint is already active, the next hint shows that word’s letter order. A third-party instructions page, which says it is not affiliated with NYT, describes the general board as 6×8, with letter connections possible horizontally, vertically, or diagonally, including turns; letters cannot be reused within a word.
