How Wordle feedback works
Wordle asks players to guess a hidden five-letter word in six tries or fewer. After each guess, the tiles indicate how close the guess is:
#1 Best Overall
- Green: the letter is in the answer and in the correct position.
- Yellow: the letter is in the answer but in a different position.
- Gray: the letter is not in the answer.
In his account of this puzzle, Kain says RAIDS left him with 206 possible words, then CLOUT narrowed his candidates to LEACH and FECAL before he entered LEACH. That is his reported playthrough, not a general solver statistic. His account and clues are in Forbes.
