Before you install: platform and patch compatibility
This list is for the PC version. The reviewed roundup says Cyberpunk 2077 does not support mods on PS5, Xbox, or Switch 2. Its recommendations were checked against creator pages on September 21, 2026, and use patch 2.31 as the baseline. Mod support can change with game updates, so a compatibility note for 2.31 is not a promise that a mod works with a later patch.

Several entries below are frameworks that other mods rely on. The independent 2077MODS compatibility matrix listed ArchiveXL, Codeware, Cyber Engine Tweaks (CET), RED4ext, and TweakXL as working on patch 2.31 as of September 20, 2026, but marked redscript “untested” in its summary. ArchiveXL’s creator page separately lists compatibility with patch 2.31 and redscript 0.5.31+. Because the reports differ, verify redscript and all dependencies on their live creator pages before installing.
CD PROJEKT RED provides REDmod, a free DLC for installing and loading compatible mods, plus modding tools. REDmod-compatible mods use the mods folder and can be toggled in the launcher; legacy archive-folder mods remain supported but do not appear in the REDmod menu. REDmod is not required by every mod, and official tooling does not mean the publisher endorses every community modification.

The top 10 Cyberpunk 2077 mods
1. Cyber Engine Tweaks (CET): a common foundation
CET is a Lua mod framework with an in-game overlay, console, keybinding menu, and mod settings. It is useful both as a dependency for other mods and as a way to configure mods that use its features. The reviewed roundup says its page lists patch 2.31 support. Some players may need the current Visual C++ Redistributable; check the creator’s installation notes and requirements.
2. RED4ext: native plugin support
RED4ext loads native plugins and supports frameworks such as ArchiveXL, TweakXL, and Codeware. It is a foundation rather than a gameplay mod on its own, so install it when a chosen mod requires it. After a game patch, check for an updated RED4ext release and confirm the versions expected by every dependent mod.

3. redscript: scripting support, with a compatibility caveat
Many small Cyberpunk 2077 script mods use redscript, a compiler for the game’s scripting language. Compatibility reports for patch 2.31 are inconsistent: the reviewed roundup says creator documentation supports the current patch, while the 2077MODS matrix marks redscript untested. Treat that as unresolved rather than assuming either report guarantees compatibility; check the live creator page and the requirements of the specific mod you want.
4. ArchiveXL: a base for custom resources
ArchiveXL lets mods add custom resources, including clothing and character-customization options, without modifying original game files. Its creator page lists Cyberpunk 2077 patch 2.31 and redscript 0.5.31+ compatibility, and requires RED4ext 1.29.0 or later. Confirm those versions against your own installation before adding mods that depend on ArchiveXL.

5. Limited HUD: show less interface until it matters
Limited HUD hides selected interface elements until context makes them useful. It suits players who want a less cluttered view or who take screenshots, while keeping certain information available when needed. The reviewed roundup lists RED4ext, redscript, ArchiveXL, Input Loader, and Mod Settings among its dependencies, so this is a more involved setup than a standalone cosmetic tweak.
6. Better Loot Markers: make loot easier to read
Better Loot Markers makes loot markers more informative, helping distinguish items while exploring and looting. The reviewed roundup reports a patch 2.31 update and lists CET as a requirement. Check the creator page for current compatibility and installation details before using it.

7. Cyberware-EX: expand cyberware combinations
Cyberware-EX adds cyberware slots and allows combinations the base game normally keeps separate. That makes it a gameplay and build-customization change, rather than a purely visual enhancement. The reviewed roundup says the mod page confirms patch 2.31 support and lists redscript, TweakXL, and Codeware as requirements. Since it changes what a character can equip, consider whether that extra flexibility fits the balance you want.
8. Stealthrunner: add optional stealth objectives
Stealthrunner adds optional stealth objectives and rewards across quests and activities, including Phantom Liberty missions. It is a fit for players who want more structure and incentives for stealth play. The reviewed roundup notes a substantial set of framework requirements; read the current creator page before installing so you can check its full dependency list and compatibility with your other quest or gameplay mods.

9. Equipment-EX: more wardrobe and transmog options
Equipment-EX expands wardrobe and transmog functionality and supports both vanilla and modded clothing. It is aimed at players who want more control over appearance and equipment presentation. The mod depends on several frameworks, so verify the complete list on its creator page and check for overlap with other clothing or wardrobe mods.
10. Let There Be Flight: take vehicles airborne
Let There Be Flight adds flying modes to vehicles, a substantial change to how you move around Night City. The reviewed roundup says it was updated September 13, 2026, and lists RED4ext, redscript, ArchiveXL, TweakXL, Input Loader, and Mod Settings as requirements. It is directly incompatible with Car Modification Shop according to that roundup, so do not assume the two work together in one loadout.

If you are new to modding, start with one mod that addresses a specific goal, then add its required frameworks rather than installing a large bundle at once. This makes it easier to spot which dependency or update caused a problem.
- Pick a goal. For a less intrusive interface, consider Limited HUD; for clearer loot cues, Better Loot Markers; for build options, Cyberware-EX; and for a new vehicle mechanic, Let There Be Flight.
- Open the original creator page. Confirm support for your installed game patch, the latest release date, all dependencies, and any stated incompatibilities. Do not rely on an older compatibility note after a game update.
- Install required frameworks at the versions the mod specifies. CET, RED4ext, redscript, ArchiveXL, TweakXL, Codeware, Input Loader, and Mod Settings appear in the requirements for entries in this list. A framework being compatible does not make every mod that uses it compatible.
- Follow the mod’s own installation instructions. If it is REDmod-compatible, it uses the
modsfolder and can be toggled in the launcher. Legacy archive-folder mods use a different route and are not listed in the REDmod menu; use the instructions for that particular mod. - Launch and check before adding more. If the game fails to load or a feature stops working, remove or disable the last addition and check the creator’s troubleshooting guidance. Recheck framework updates after a game patch.
Where to download and get help
Use the original creator page for downloads and current requirements. The reviewed roundup warns that reuploads and mod bundles can be outdated or malicious. CD PROJEKT RED says it does not create, review, or maintain community mods and is not responsible for their behavior; for a mod-related problem, contact its creator. An official REDmod install path is not an official review or endorsement of an individual mod.
