The most downloaded mobile game of 2025 was Block Blast!, with an estimated 368 million downloads worldwide. The highest-grossing was Honor of Kings, with an estimated $1.68 billion in revenue. Those two answers come from different rankings, and “top” only has a clear meaning once you say which measure you are using. AppMagic publishes both lists for 2025, and the games on them overlap only partly.
What “top” means in a 2025 mobile game ranking
A ranking of mobile games can measure how many people installed a game, how much money players spent on it, or how long they played it. For 2025, the widely cited worldwide data covers the first two. No comparable worldwide top ten by monthly active users, unique players, or hours played has been published on the same basis, so this article does not rank games by how much they are played.
Use “most downloaded” for the install ranking and “highest grossing” for the revenue ranking. Avoid “most played” and “best,” since a high install count or revenue total says nothing about quality or critical reception.
Top 10 mobile games by worldwide downloads, 2025
The table below uses AppMagic’s full-year 2025 estimates for the App Store and Google Play. AppMagic’s data notes describe these as estimates, not audited platform totals, and they count installs rather than unique people.

Because installs can repeat (one person may reinstall a game on a new phone or after deleting it), these numbers measure download activity, not people. The same caution applies to every figure in this article.

Why the two lists differ
Only three titles appear on both lists in the same place or nearby: Roblox (third by downloads, third by revenue), PUBG MOBILE (tenth by downloads, seventh by revenue), and no other game overlaps. Block Blast! ranks first for installs but does not appear in the revenue top ten at all, while Honor of Kings is absent from the download top ten. A casual game with a large audience can generate many installs with little spending per player, and a game with heavy in-app purchasing can rank high on revenue with far fewer downloads. Neither pattern tells you which game is better.
Reconciling interim and full-year figures
Two different datasets appear in the coverage. PocketGamer.biz’s year-end analysis, published December 23, 2025 and written by Craig Chapple, uses AppMagic estimates for the App Store and Google Play covering January 1 through December 22, 2025. It is an interim count, not a full calendar year. AppMagic’s later report covers the full year. The two sets of numbers should not be mixed.

| Game | PocketGamer.biz, Jan 1 to Dec 22, 2025 | AppMagic full-year 2025 |
|---|---|---|
| Block Blast! | 356.2 million installs | 368 million downloads |
| Roblox | 286 million installs | 295 million downloads |
| Free Fire and Free Fire MAX | 279.6 million combined downloads | 287 million for Free Fire MAX alone (Free Fire not separately listed in the top ten) |
The Free Fire row is not like-for-like. PocketGamer.biz combines Free Fire and Free Fire MAX into a single entry, which is why its third-place figure is larger than the Free Fire MAX line in AppMagic’s table. The combined entry reflects a bundling convention, and it changes how the title ranks. Any figure you quote should name the source, the period, and whether versions were combined.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. How to cite these figures accurately
- Name the metric. Write “most downloaded” or “highest estimated grossing,” not “top” alone.
- Name the provider and period. Use “AppMagic estimates, full-year 2025” or “PocketGamer.biz, through December 22, 2025.”
- Keep the scope clear. The figures cover the App Store and Google Play as reported by AppMagic. AppMagic’s public notes do not fully specify every estimation method, geographic exclusion, or revenue accounting rule, so “worldwide” here means AppMagic’s global coverage, not an audited total for every country.
- Do not infer player numbers. Installs and grossing are not active-user counts.
Market context from Sensor Tower
Sensor Tower’s 2026 State of Gaming release, dated February 26, 2026, estimates that mobile game in-app purchase revenue rose 1% to $82 billion in 2025. That is a total for the whole market, not a per-title ranking, and it comes from a different provider with its own methods. It helps set scale for the game-level estimates above, but the two datasets should not be added together or compared directly. The release is available through PR Newswire.

Which list to use
If you want the games that reached the most people, the download table is the right reference, with the caveat that installs are not players. If you want the games that earned the most from players, use the grossing table, with the caveat that revenue is an estimate. Roblox and PUBG MOBILE are the only titles that appear in both top tens, which makes them the easiest to discuss across both measures.
