The GOG announcements are about older, already released Total War games—not MEDIEVAL III. GOG’s initial December 4, 2025, announcement named four classics, with additional titles announced later.
When will Total War: MEDIEVAL III be released?
There is no announced release date. Creative Assembly revealed MEDIEVAL III during its 25th-anniversary showcase on December 4, 2025, and said the game is in pre-production and still years from release. The Total War Team’s official FAQ says: “This project is still in its early development stages, so we don’t have a release date to share just yet.” Creative Assembly’s anniversary announcement and FAQ do not give a launch year.

That means a predicted year should not be mistaken for a confirmed schedule. Creative Assembly says it plans to share development updates roughly every quarter, but that is an intended cadence, not a guarantee that an update will appear on a particular date.
What has Creative Assembly confirmed about the game?
The studio describes its goal as an “ultimate medieval strategy sandbox” combining the series’ grand strategy with tactical real-time battles. It has also confirmed that sieges will feature and that the game will use the Warcore engine. The announcement calls it the first historical Total War built on Warcore.

Is Total War: MEDIEVAL III on GOG?
The GOG announcements and catalog listings cited above cover older games. They do not announce MEDIEVAL III for GOG, and Creative Assembly has not announced a release date. Do not confuse the Medieval: Total War collection or Total War: MEDIEVAL II – Definitive Edition with the newly announced sequel.
What should players make of the GOG additions?
The GOG news gives players another storefront option for a selection of released series entries; it is separate from the development announcement for MEDIEVAL III. The initial GOG post described the four additions as joining its Preservation Program, but the announcements do not establish comparative performance or quality against other storefront versions.
For anyone deciding what to play now, use the exact edition name and the live GOG listing to identify the game and included edition. The announcements establish the titles named above, not a performance comparison or a reason to expect the unreleased sequel to arrive soon.
