If Towers of Aghasba crashes, freezes, or will not launch on PS5, start with game and system updates, then work through the checks below from least disruptive to most disruptive. These steps follow PlayStation’s general guidance and can help narrow down the cause; they are not a guaranteed fix for every crash.
Try these 10 troubleshooting steps in order
1. Check for a game update
Highlight Towers of Aghasba on the PS5 home screen, press the Options button, and select Check for Update. Dreamlit Games has fixed specific crash defects in past patches, so confirm the installed version is current before changing anything else. PlayStation’s game-crash guidance covers checking for game updates.
2. Restart the PS5
Use the console’s normal power menu to restart, then launch the game again. A restart is a low-risk first check included in PlayStation’s game-launch troubleshooting.
3. Confirm installation and system software
If the game is a digital download, check its Download Status and make sure installation has finished. Also check for a PS5 system-software update. A partially installed game or outdated system software can interfere with launching; PlayStation recommends checking both the game and console software.

4. Move the game from USB extended storage if needed
If Towers of Aghasba is installed on USB extended storage and will not start, move the game data to the PS5’s internal storage and try again. This is a location check—not a recommendation to buy another drive. PlayStation lists this step for games that fail to start.
5. Check whether other games crash
Launch another game and see whether it also freezes or crashes. This helps distinguish a problem isolated to Towers of Aghasba from one affecting the console more broadly:

- Only Towers of Aghasba is affected: report the issue to Dreamlit Games.
- Multiple games are affected: follow PlayStation support guidance; the wider pattern may warrant console troubleshooting or repair.

6. Check whether the crash follows one save
If it is safe and feasible, compare the problem with a new game started without the existing save. PlayStation recommends starting without an existing save as a way to check for possible save corruption. Do not delete your only save to perform this test: protect saved data before taking any action that could affect it.

7. Reinstall the game
If the earlier checks do not help, delete Towers of Aghasba and download it again. For a disc copy, PlayStation advises reinstalling from the disc. Reinstalling is more disruptive than a restart or update check, so use it after simpler steps.
8. Clear the cache and rebuild the database in Safe Mode
PlayStation includes clearing the system software cache and rebuilding the database among its troubleshooting options. Follow the current official PS5 Safe Mode instructions and choose the relevant option there; use Sony’s guide for the exact process rather than relying on an unverified button sequence.

9. Send a useful report
If the problem appears limited to Towers of Aghasba, send Dreamlit Games a report with enough detail to help identify the failure. Include:
- Any error code shown on screen.
- What you were doing when the crash happened and whether it occurs at launch, during play, while loading, or on exit.
- Steps that reliably reproduce it, if you have them.
- A screenshot or video, if available.
PlayStation recommends a detailed description and supporting media where possible, and Dreamlit’s patch announcements have invited player reports. You can also review the Dreamlit Games developer news and patch announcements.

10. Reserve system-software reinstallation or a console reset for last
PlayStation lists system-software reinstallation as an advanced option for games that will not start. Do not treat it as an early fix. A console reset is more consequential still: PlayStation warns that resetting erases data stored on console storage. Back up what you need before resetting, and contact PlayStation Repairs if several games are affected.

Dreamlit has addressed several distinct issues in historical PS5 patches. The version notes show a launch-crash fix in v1.0000.05 (20 November 2024), a crash-on-loading fix in v1.0000.09 (28 November 2024), and an autosave-size change in v1.0000.12 (14 December 2024) intended to address error CE-100028-1 for very progressed saves. The historical notes also record a fix for a crash when attempting to load a game. These are evidence of specific past fixes, not proof that a present-day crash has the same cause or is already resolved. Read the PS5 patch notes.
Dreamlit’s later developer announcements add more context: hotfix 11.1 addressed a Fill Order menu crash on 12 June 2025; the 11.3 announcement on 13 August 2025 said an intermittent loading bug should be fixed and listed crash-on-exit errors as a known issue; and update 11.4 restored multiplayer for PC and PS5 users on 2 October 2025. Those notes describe particular fixes and issues, not a universal remedy for all crashes. Check Dreamlit’s developer announcements.
Check the current version and announcement status
The latest visible developer post discusses Update 12 as still being prepared and says it needs full testing on PC and PS5 before release. Its date appears as “29 Sep” without a year; the surrounding post context points to 2026, but that year is an inference rather than a printed date. The post does not establish that Update 12 has shipped. Check the installed PS5 version and Dreamlit’s current announcements rather than assuming a pending update is available.
Dreamlit said it would release the update once it was stable and had received full testing on PC and PS5, including single-player and multiplayer; the team also said it would give a confident date if it had one. The developer feed contains the announcement.
