tpprnuirus.dll is a ThinPrint Output Gateway printer-driver interface file, not a normal Windows system DLL. If Windows says tpprnuirus.dll is missing or cannot be loaded, repair the ThinPrint printer package that installed it rather than downloading an isolated DLL.
What tpprnuirus.dll is
ThinPrint uses Output Gateway, abbreviated TPOG, as a virtual printer driver for remote-desktop sessions, workstations, print servers, and driver-free printing workflows. The file belongs to that print pipeline and may be loaded when Windows opens printer properties, maps a shared printer, starts a remote-printing application, or sends a job through the Print Spooler.

The recorded version and size are examples from an older installation, not values that every copy must have. ThinPrint has supplied separate x64 and x86 packages, so do not use a file from a different architecture or ThinPrint release.

The safest fix: repair ThinPrint Output Gateway
The most likely cause is an incomplete, damaged, or mismatched ThinPrint Engine, Desktop Agent, or Output Gateway installation.
1. Identify the installed ThinPrint product
- Press Windows key + R.
- Enter
appwiz.cpland press Enter. - Look for entries containing ThinPrint, ThinPrint Engine, ThinPrint Desktop Agent, or Output Gateway.
- Note the installed product and version.
- Open Settings > System > About and check System type. It will identify the machine as 64-bit or 32-bit.
If this is a managed computer, also ask the administrator which ThinPrint version is installed on the print server. The client and server should use compatible packages.
2. Obtain the matching installer
Use the official ThinPrint Download Center or the installation package already approved for your organization. Match all of the following:
- ThinPrint product
- Installed or centrally deployed version
- x64 or x86 architecture
- Client, server, or Desktop Agent role
Do not assume that the newest package is automatically correct for an older print server. ThinPrint’s installer documentation identifies TPOG as the Output Gateway feature and documents package names such as Setup_ThinPrintEngine_x64.exe.
3. Repair or reinstall the component
If the installer offers Repair, select it first. If it does not:
- Close applications that print.
- Open Settings > Apps > Installed apps.
- Find the ThinPrint entry.
- Select More options or the three-dot menu.
- Choose Uninstall, if repair is unavailable.
- Restart Windows if prompted.
- Run the matching ThinPrint installer as administrator.
- Select the TPOG or Output Gateway feature when the feature list appears.
- Complete the installation.
- Restart Windows.
On older Windows versions, use Control Panel > Programs and Features, select the ThinPrint product, and choose Change or Uninstall.

After restarting, test the same action that produced the error. Open the printer’s properties, print a test page, or reconnect the remote printer. If the error no longer appears and the job reaches the printer, the repair restored the correct component.
Understand the exact error message
Windows may display several loader variants:
- “The program can’t start because tpprnuirus.dll is missing from your computer.”
- “There was a problem starting tpprnuirus.dll.”
- “Error loading tpprnuirus.dll.”
- “The code execution cannot proceed because tpprnuirus.dll was not found.”
- “tpprnuirus.dll is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error.”
These messages do not always mean the named file has been deleted.
If the message says “The specified module could not be found,” the DLL may be present while a dependency, driver component, or related file is missing. Check the complete ThinPrint installation instead of copying another DLL beside it.
Also note when the error appears:
- During Windows login: a printer mapping, startup agent, or redirected printer may be loading the component.
- When opening printer properties: the TPOG user interface or printer-driver package is likely involved.
- Only while printing: inspect the Print Spooler and the affected printer queue.
- Inside a remote-desktop application: repair the package on the client or session host where the application runs, not only on the central print server.
Fix stale printer mappings and driver packages
A Windows Update, ThinPrint update, printer removal, or Point and Print change can leave an old driver package behind.
On a normal Windows workstation
- Open Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners.
- Select the affected printer.
- Choose Remove.
- Restart the computer.
- Return to Printers & scanners.
- Select Add device and recreate the printer connection.
If the printer is shared, recreate it from the print server rather than installing a random local driver.

- Press Windows key + R.
- Enter
printui.exe /s /t2and press Enter. - Select the affected ThinPrint or printer-driver package.
- Choose Remove.
- Select Remove driver and driver package when offered.
- Restart Windows.
- Reinstall the correct ThinPrint package.
- Recreate the printer mapping.
If Windows refuses to remove the package, stop printing applications and restart the Print Spooler first.

Restart the Print Spooler
- Press Windows key + R.
- Enter
services.mscand press Enter. - Find Print Spooler.
- Right-click it and choose Restart.
- If jobs are stuck, double-click the service and choose Stop.
- Open:
C:WindowsSystem32spoolPRINTERS
- Delete the files inside that folder, not the folder itself.
- Return to Services, right-click Print Spooler, and choose Start.
Then check Event Viewer > Applications and Services Logs > Microsoft > Windows > PrintService for a related driver or spooler event.
When the driver package is installed on both a print server and a remote session host, repair both sides. A server with a new package can still send an incompatible or incomplete driver to an older client.

Security software can remove or quarantine a printer-driver DLL after an update.
- Open Windows Security from the Start menu.
- Select Virus & threat protection.
- Choose Protection history.
- Look for an entry mentioning
tpprnuirus.dll, ThinPrint, or a printer driver. - Record the detected path and action.
- Do not restore the file immediately if its source is unclear.
- First reinstall ThinPrint from the official package.
- If the newly installed, digitally signed file is detected again, have the administrator or ThinPrint support verify the detection before allowing it.
Microsoft documents quarantine and restoration behavior in Protection History. Only restore a file after establishing that it came from the legitimate ThinPrint installation.
Repair Windows components only when other system files fail
tpprnuirus.dll is third-party, so System File Checker is not normally the primary repair. Use Windows servicing commands when other Windows components are also damaged or Windows itself is behaving abnormally.
- Open Start.
- Type
cmd. - Right-click Command Prompt.
- Select Run as administrator.
- Run these commands in order:
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
sfc /scannow
- Wait for each command to finish.
- Restart Windows.
- Repair ThinPrint again if the DLL error remains.
DISM repairs the Windows component store and SFC checks protected Windows files. Neither command guarantees that a third-party ThinPrint DLL will be recreated. Microsoft’s procedure is described in Using System File Checker in Windows.

Check the file path and signature
If a copy of tpprnuirus.dll already exists, inspect it before trusting it.
- Browse to the file’s location.
- Right-click the file and select Properties.
- Check the Digital Signatures tab, if present.
- Review the Details tab for product and version information.
- Confirm that the file is inside a printer-driver directory or the ThinPrint installation path.
- Run a full scan from Windows Security > Virus & threat protection > Scan options.
A copy in an unrelated application folder, a temporary directory, or a random download location deserves additional investigation. Do not replace a signed driver file with one downloaded from an unknown source.

Do not download the DLL separately
Random DLL download sites can provide malware, the wrong version, or the wrong architecture. An isolated file may also leave the associated driver package, dependencies, catalog files, and printer configuration broken.

Use the official ThinPrint installer or the organization’s approved deployment package instead.
Do not copy it into System32 or SysWOW64
Do not manually place the file in:
C:WindowsSystem32
C:WindowsSysWOW64
Those folders are not interchangeable repair locations. Copying an x86 file into an x64 driver directory, or copying an old file into a current package, can create further driver and servicing problems.
Do not use regsvr32 routinely
regsvr32 applies to DLLs that provide registration entry points such as DllRegisterServer. A printer-driver UI DLL is not automatically a self-registering COM component, and there is no ThinPrint instruction requiring this file to be registered.

Do not run:
regsvr32 tpprnuirus.dll
unless ThinPrint documentation or a qualified administrator specifically identifies a registration requirement.
Do not reinstall Visual C++ by default
There is no evidence that Visual C++ Redistributable is the primary fix for this file. Repair that runtime only when the full error or diagnostic evidence identifies a missing Visual C++ dependency.
If ThinPrint reinstall does not solve it
Collect these details before escalating:
- Full Windows error text
- Windows 10 or Windows 11 edition and architecture
- ThinPrint product and installed version
- Whether the machine is x64 or x86
- Whether the file is missing or merely fails to load
- The file’s full path and digital-signature status
- Whether the issue began after Windows Update, a ThinPrint update, printer remapping, software removal, or antivirus quarantine
- Whether the failure occurs at login, during printing, in printer properties, or inside a remote-desktop session
- Whether the printer is local, shared, redirected, or hosted on a print server
For a stubborn case, remove the affected printer and obsolete driver package, restart the computer, repair the ThinPrint installation on the relevant client and server, and recreate the mapping. Use System Restore only if a suitable restore point predates the failure, since it can roll back applications, settings, and later system changes.

Is tpprnuirus.dll part of Windows?
No. It is associated with ThinPrint Output Gateway and is installed as part of a ThinPrint printer-driver package.

Should I use the x86 or x64 file?
Use the architecture required by the matching ThinPrint package and printer-driver environment. Do not select a file by filename alone. ThinPrint has supplied distinct x64 and x86 installers.
Will SFC restore it?
Usually not. SFC repairs protected Windows components, while tpprnuirus.dll belongs to ThinPrint. Repair or reinstall ThinPrint first.
