There is no single best party for every part of The Legend of Heroes: Trails into Reverie. Your strongest practical lineup depends on which characters your current story route makes available and what the encounter demands. Build around complementary jobs—damage, survival, support, and turn or BP utility—then adjust your roster for the True Reverie Corridor, where characters from all three routes can team up.
How to choose a strong party
Compare a lineup by what it can do, not by an assumed character ranking. The official game systems page describes the combat systems and the Corridor’s cross-route parties; a GameFAQs craft and Brave Order reference can help you check individual character options. These sources support a role-based approach, not a tested universal tier list.
- Damage plan: Decide whether the team will lean on physical attacks, arts, or a mix. A team does not need every character to contribute damage in the same way.
- Survival and recovery: Have a response to dangerous enemy turns and a way to recover when a fight goes wrong. The right tool depends on the characters available and the threat in front of you.
- Turn and BP utility: Choose Brave Orders for the effect the fight needs, and consider whether a United Front can help restore BP after you spend it.
- Availability and reliability: A theoretically strong character cannot help if the current route segment does not make them available. Build with the lineup you actually have.
- Bench contribution: When a larger roster is available, develop standby characters too. They can participate in United Fronts rather than sitting out every encounter.
Build for the main story’s route restrictions
The main story follows three routes, and the available lineup changes as those routes progress. The best practical party is therefore the strongest combination you can field at that point—not a Corridor roster assembled before the story allows it.
For each route segment, start with the characters the game provides. Pick a dependable damage approach, then make sure the team can answer the encounter’s tactical demands with suitable support, survival tools, or a Brave Order. Reassess when the lineup changes; a composition that works in one segment may not be possible in the next.

Use the True Reverie Corridor for flexible combinations
The True Reverie Corridor is where you can combine characters from all three routes. That freedom makes it the right place to experiment with broader synergies and invest in a deeper roster, rather than assuming the main-story routes permit the same combinations.
The official systems page explains that standby characters can join United Fronts and that participation can scale up to ten allies. As the page puts it, “Anyone on standby can join in on the fun, and it only grows more powerful the more people get involved.” With five or more characters in the party, United Fronts use the Assault Gauge; the official description says their effect grows with more participants, up to ten allies. That makes developed reserves part of your combat plan, not merely backups.

Spend BP according to the encounter
BP is a tactical resource, not a button to spend the same way in every battle. The official overview describes three uses: Rush with two characters, Burst with four, or a Brave Order that applies an effect. United Fronts can restore BP, so your decisions form a cycle: spend BP when an immediate opening or defensive effect matters, then look for an opportunity to replenish it.
Choose based on what the fight needs now. A Brave Order may be the answer when its effect addresses the threat; a Rush or Burst may suit a different opening. Avoid treating any one option as the automatic best use in every encounter.

Bosses and specialized community setups
Community discussions mention strategies involving delay, break damage, Brave Orders, and character-specific synergies, but those posts are player anecdotes—not official rankings or controlled comparisons. For example, an ICLUCIAN player guide describes a “Banning Loop” centered on Lloyd, using an order that grants additional turns alongside Chronoburst. The author also lists other character requirements and flexible slots. Treat it as a specialized build to investigate, not a guaranteed recipe for every player, difficulty, or game version.
A Steam Community thread asks, “What are some of the most broken character and party setups you can throw together for this game?” That language captures the appeal of experimentation, but the replies do not establish a universally strongest party. Before following any advanced setup, check its character and order requirements, progression assumptions, and whether it fits your current roster.
