Start with this diagnostic checklist
Before changing Windows, confirm three details:
- Which program fails:
ts3server.exe, a Windows service, a scheduled task, or the TeamSpeak client - When the error appears: during server startup, after an update, or after antivirus activity
- Which server build you use: 32-bit or 64-bit
ts3_ssh.dll is a TeamSpeak 3 Server file, not a Windows component. If Windows reports that ts3_ssh.dll is missing, not found, corrupt, or cannot be loaded, repair the TeamSpeak server package that should contain it.
The normal location is beside the server executable, typically:
teamspeak3-server_win64ts3server.exe
teamspeak3-server_win64ts3_ssh.dll
A 32-bit installation has the same relationship inside its x86 server folder. The file does not belong in C:WindowsSystem32 or C:WindowsSysWOW64.
What ts3_ssh.dll does
TeamSpeak 3 Server supports an SSH-based ServerQuery interface. TeamSpeak’s server configuration documentation includes SSH settings such as the query enable switch and port 10022, so ts3_ssh.dll is best understood as a server-side SSH/query component.

TeamSpeak does not publicly document the DLL’s exact exports, compiler details, or internal file metadata. Do not rely on DLL-index pages that claim a definitive version, size, hash, or publisher.
This file is:
- Part of TeamSpeak 3 Server for Windows
- Not part of Windows
- Not a Microsoft Visual C++ runtime file
- Not a DirectX file
- Not normally part of the TeamSpeak client
- Not a DLL that should be registered globally
Fix 1: Rebuild the TeamSpeak server files
This is the most likely and safest fix.
1. Stop the server completely
If TeamSpeak runs as a service:
- Press Windows key + R.
- Enter
services.mscand press Enter. - Find the service that launches TeamSpeak.
- Right-click it and select Stop.
If you start it manually, close the server console or stop the related ts3server.exe process:
- Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc.
- Open Task Manager.
- Select Details.
- Find
ts3server.exe. - Right-click it and choose End task.
Do not replace the DLL while the server is running.
2. Back up the installation
Copy the entire TeamSpeak server folder to a separate backup location. Pay particular attention to:

Also preserve any configuration files, startup scripts, service definitions, logs, and custom paths your server uses. The database contains server state, permissions, channels, and other important data.
3. Download the matching official package
Open the official TeamSpeak website and select TeamSpeak 3 Server. Choose Windows Server 64-bit or Windows Server 32-bit, matching the server executable you intend to run.
TeamSpeak currently lists server version 3.13.8 for these Windows packages. TeamSpeak identifies version 3.13.7 and earlier as affected by security issues, with 3.13.8 as the fixed release. Use 3.13.8 or later when available.
Do not download an isolated DLL. Download the complete server archive.

4. Extract it to a new folder
Use File Explorer to extract the archive into a temporary directory, for example:

C:TS3-clean
Open the extracted folder and confirm that it contains both:
ts3server.exe
ts3_ssh.dll
If the archive does not contain both files, you selected the wrong package, extracted it incorrectly, or obtained an incomplete download.
5. Replace only the program files
The safest approach is to keep the old folder as a backup and create a clean server folder. Copy your preserved database, configuration, license, and startup files into the clean installation only after confirming the new package contains the required executable and DLL.

6. Start the correct executable
Start the new ts3server.exe manually once, preferably from an elevated Command Prompt:
- Open Start.
- Search for Command Prompt.
- Select Run as administrator.
- Change to the new folder:
cd /d C:TS3-clean
- Start the server:
ts3server.exe
A successful repair normally means the missing-DLL message disappears and the server proceeds to its normal startup messages. Check the TeamSpeak log for any new error.
If the server starts manually but fails as a service, the service still points to the old directory. Update the service, shortcut, or scheduled task so it launches the new ts3server.exe.
Fix 2: Check for a 32-bit and 64-bit mismatch
A 32-bit executable cannot load a 64-bit ts3_ssh.dll, and a 64-bit executable cannot use the 32-bit version. A 64-bit Windows installation can run a 32-bit TeamSpeak server, so the architecture of Windows alone does not decide which package you need.
Check the executable and package together:
teamspeak3-server_win64requires the 64-bit server files- A 32-bit Windows server package requires the 32-bit server files
- Never mix files between x86 and x64 folders
- Never copy a DLL from one TeamSpeak release into another

- Right-click the TeamSpeak shortcut and select Properties.
- Read the path in Target.
- For a service, open
services.msc, right-click the service, select Properties, and inspect Path to executable.
Repair the folder named in that path, or change the service to the clean installation.
Fix 3: Check Windows Security quarantine
Antivirus software may remove or quarantine an application DLL. This is not proof that ts3_ssh.dll is commonly detected, so verify the individual event.

- Open Settings.
- Select Privacy & security.
- Select Windows Security.
- Open Virus & threat protection.
- Select Protection history.
- Look for an event involving
ts3_ssh.dllor the TeamSpeak server folder.
If the file came from the official TeamSpeak archive and you understand the detection, you can review the available action. Otherwise, do not restore the file. Download a fresh official server archive and reinstall it.
Microsoft notes that restoring a quarantined file can cause Defender to detect it again unless the file is explicitly allowed. Do not create a broad exclusion for an entire drive or for random DLL files.
If the fresh official package is immediately quarantined again, leave it removed and investigate the detection before continuing.
Fix 4: Check whether another dependency is missing
“The specified module could not be found” can be misleading. It may mean that ts3_ssh.dll exists but one of its dependencies cannot be loaded.

If the error changes to mention a file such as VCRUNTIME*.dll or MSVCP*.dll, install the official Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable matching the application architecture:

Use Microsoft’s current Visual C++ Redistributable download page. Installing the runtime does not recreate ts3_ssh.dll; it only addresses a separate runtime dependency revealed after the TeamSpeak files are repaired. Older redistributables can remain installed when other applications require them.
Avoid downloading individual runtime DLLs from file-index sites.

Fix 5: Repair Windows components only if other programs are also failing
ts3_ssh.dll is not a protected Windows system file. System File Checker normally will not restore it. Use DISM and SFC when Windows itself appears damaged, or when multiple unrelated applications report missing or corrupt system components.
- Open Start.
- Search for Command Prompt.
- Select Run as administrator.
- Run:
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
Wait for it to finish. Then run:
sfc /scannow
Restart Windows and test the TeamSpeak server again.
A successful DISM or SFC result means Windows component repair completed, not that TeamSpeak’s private DLL was restored. If ts3_ssh.dll is still missing, return to the clean official TeamSpeak installation.
Repeating SFC and DISM without knowing what changed can waste time while leaving the damaged application folder untouched. Fix 6: Do not use regsvr32
Do not run:
regsvr32 ts3_ssh.dll
regsvr32 is intended for COM and ActiveX DLLs that expose registration entry points. ts3_ssh.dll is normally loaded privately by ts3server.exe, not registered as a global Windows component. Registering it will not restore a missing file and may produce another error such as a missing entry point.
Likewise, do not copy it into System32 or SysWOW64. Windows searches the application directory during normal DLL loading, and placing an unrelated or mismatched DLL beside an executable can create version conflicts and DLL-preloading risk.
Fix 7: Do not update unrelated drivers
Graphics, audio, network, and chipset drivers are not normal sources of ts3_ssh.dll. Device Manager is useful only if the server has a separate hardware or network problem.
To check for a driver issue:
- Right-click Start.
- Select Device Manager.
- Expand the relevant category.
- Right-click a device and select Properties.
- Open the Driver tab and review its status.
Do not expect a driver update to replace the TeamSpeak DLL. Outbyte Driver Updater can reduce the manual work of checking which drivers are stale, with findings available in its free scan and installation handled by the full version, but it is not a substitute for reinstalling TeamSpeak.

For a scheduled task:
- Open Start and search for Task Scheduler.
- Select Task Scheduler Library.
- Find the TeamSpeak task.
- Open Actions.
- Check the program path and Start in folder.
Correct the path, then restart the service or task. Test by stopping and starting it again rather than relying only on a manual launch.

- “The program can’t start because ts3_ssh.dll is missing from your computer.” The expected TeamSpeak file is absent from the server installation or was quarantined.
- “ts3_ssh.dll was not found.” Windows could not locate the DLL in the expected application path.
- “The file could not be loaded or is corrupt.” The file may be damaged, mismatched, blocked, or missing a dependency.
- “ts3_ssh.dll is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error.” The file may belong to the wrong architecture, be incomplete, or not be a genuine matching TeamSpeak file.
- “The specified module could not be found.” The named DLL may exist while another dependency does not.
The message alone does not identify the root cause. The TeamSpeak package, architecture, antivirus history, and server log do.
FAQ
Is ts3_ssh.dll part of TeamSpeak Client?
No. The strongest product evidence associates it with TeamSpeak 3 Server for Windows. Repair the server distribution, not the client installation.
Where should the DLL be?
It should normally be beside ts3server.exe inside the extracted TeamSpeak server directory. It should not be placed in System32 or SysWOW64.
Should I download the DLL by itself?
No. Isolated DLL downloads can contain malware, the wrong architecture, or an incompatible build, and they often leave the damaged installation unresolved. Download the complete matching server archive from TeamSpeak’s official download page.
Will Visual C++ Redistributable fix it?

Do I need to delete the database before reinstalling?
No. Back it up and preserve it. Deleting ts3server.sqlitedb can remove server data and permissions.

Confirm that the service launches the new directory, verify x86 versus x64 matching, review antivirus Protection history, and inspect the TeamSpeak log. If the message names another DLL, troubleshoot that dependency instead of replacing ts3_ssh.dll again.
