Tubbo—Toby “Tubbo” Smith—and Misfits Gaming Group launched TubNet in November 2022 with an ambitious pitch: a Minecraft server that could bridge Java Edition and Bedrock Edition players. “Universal” described that cross-play goal, not confirmed support for every platform or proof that the server is still online.
What was TubNet?
TubNet was a Minecraft server project launched by Tubbo and Misfits Gaming Group. In a GamesBeat report published November 23, 2022, the project was presented as a community space with original games and technology intended to let PC players using Java Edition participate alongside Bedrock players.
The distinction mattered because Java and Bedrock are separate Minecraft editions that ordinarily do not let their players join the same multiplayer servers. GamesBeat noted that Bedrock is available across consoles while many PC players use Java. TubNet’s launch pitch was to bridge that divide; the report does not establish support for every console, mobile device, or version.
Could Java and Bedrock players play together?
Cross-edition play was TubNet’s stated aim at launch. GamesBeat attributed the effort to “new technology” that would let Java Edition players on PC participate. A later Lunar Client partnership announcement called TubNet a Java Edition server. Those descriptions do not necessarily conflict: the launch claim was about bridging access to a server environment, but the reviewed sources do not explain how that worked technically.

So the careful answer is that TubNet was promoted as a way to bring Java and Bedrock players together. The available accounts are not a platform-by-platform compatibility test, and they do not confirm that every Bedrock device could connect.
What games were on TubNet?
GamesBeat’s November 2022 launch coverage introduced three games, but its reviewed passage gives detailed descriptions for only two. Lunar Client’s later partnership post names three modes and says Battle Royale had just been released at that point; that later list should not be treated as a precise launch-day lineup.

Lunar Client also promoted its own modifications as improving gameplay in TubNet modes, particularly Crystal Rush and Light Strike. That is the partner’s product claim, not independent testing, and its announcement does not establish that Lunar Client was required to play.
Is TubNet still open?
Its current operating status is not established by the available sources. An aggregation of Tubbo Events account posts displays a notice saying TubNet servers would go on hiatus from January 12 and that TubNet would continue “in other ways,” but the extracted notice does not identify the year or establish the underlying account’s official status. It supports saying a hiatus was announced; it does not prove whether the server is online now.

Lunar Client’s partnership announcement gave tubnet.gg as an address, but that is historical access information rather than confirmation of a working server today. Check the service’s current official channels before relying on any connection details.

TubNet was a public server and game project. Separately, Lilypad says it worked with Tubbo to provide free Minecraft servers through Play Hosting in a company post. That hosting project concerned creating or running servers; it does not establish TubNet’s availability or serve as evidence that it replaced TubNet.
