The UAE PlayStation Store is changing from US dollars to UAE dirhams during maintenance scheduled for 5–8 October 2026. Sony says the Store will be temporarily unavailable for purchases while the change is made. Wallet balances convert at Sony’s stated rate of US$1 = AED 4.00, but that rate does not establish what games or subscriptions will cost in AED afterward.
When will the UAE PlayStation Store be unavailable?
Sony lists the UAE in phase 2 of its currency change, with maintenance beginning on 5 October 2026 and ending on 8 October 2026. Sony says Store purchases are unavailable in countries undergoing the change until the update is complete; it does not give a guaranteed time when every UAE Store function will return. Sony’s currency-change guide says users can shop again after the update using payment methods available in their country.

For eFootball, Konami specifies a narrower service window: content acquisition through the UAE PlayStation Store is suspended from 5 October 2026 at 13:00 UTC until 8 October 2026 at 00:00 UTC. That is the stated interval for eFootball content acquisition, not a promise that all PlayStation Store services will be restored at that time. Konami’s notice provides the game-specific details.
What happens to wallet funds and gift cards?
Existing wallet balance
Sony states that UAE wallet funds will be converted at US$1 = AED 4.00. The result will be rounded to the nearest decimal value supported in the country. This is the conversion formula for existing wallet funds; it does not mean future Store prices will equal the former USD prices multiplied by four.

US-dollar PlayStation gift cards
Sony says existing US-dollar PlayStation gift cards remain valid. If redeemed on the date maintenance is completed or later, the value is converted to local currency using the same formula as wallet funds. The notice does not confirm the stock, terms, or UAE account-region compatibility of any particular retailer’s card listing.
What happens to subscriptions and child-account limits?
If a subscription payment is due during maintenance, Sony says the subscription will remain active during the transition and the payment will be charged after maintenance is complete. The notice does not specify future AED subscription prices.

Anyone who previously set a monthly spending limit for a child account will need to set that limit again after the change.
What changes for PlayStation 3 owners?
After the UAE Store maintenance, purchases through the PlayStation 3 Store will no longer be possible. Sony’s notice does not say that existing purchases or downloads will become inaccessible, so the purchase restriction should not be read as a statement about access to content already acquired.

Are game prices going up when the Store switches to AED?
Sony’s notice gives a wallet conversion rate, not a price list for future games. It therefore cannot establish whether a particular game’s AED price will be higher, lower, or equivalent to its former USD price after the change. Check the UAE Store listing once purchases resume for the actual local price.

Sony’s guide mentions an expected promotions return date of 23 September 2026, which is before the UAE’s 5–8 October maintenance phase. The guide does not provide a clear, updated UAE-specific date for promotions after this transition, so 23 September should not be treated as a confirmed post-maintenance return date.
