Before the showcase, Ubisoft confirmed that it would feature Assassin’s Creed Shadows, Star Wars Outlaws, XDefiant and other games. The event delivered new gameplay for the first two, alongside updates and announcements for XDefiant and other titles.
What Ubisoft confirmed before Forward 2024
In its June 10, 2024 event listing, Ubisoft scheduled the main showcase for 12:00 p.m. PDT / 9:00 p.m. CEST, preceded by a 30-minute preshow beginning at 11:30 a.m. PDT. The preview promised exclusive looks at Star Wars Outlaws, Assassin’s Creed Shadows, XDefiant and more. Ubisoft listed Ubisoft.com/Forward and its official Twitch and YouTube channels as viewing options; eligible Twitch viewers could earn Drops by linking their Twitch and Ubisoft accounts. These were the event’s announced schedule and viewing arrangements, not a current stream schedule.
What the showcase delivered
Ubisoft’s recap said the event featured new gameplay for Star Wars Outlaws and Assassin’s Creed Shadows, along with announcements and updates for other games. The clearest distinction between the three headliners is what each segment emphasized:
| Game | Showcase focus | What Ubisoft presented |
|---|---|---|
| Star Wars Outlaws | Narrative gameplay | Kay Vess on a Tatooine mission, searching for a gunslinger who could help improve her blaster skills. |
| Assassin’s Creed Shadows | Character, combat and stealth | Yasuke and Naoe using contrasting direct-combat and stealth approaches in a changing world. |
| XDefiant | Multiplayer-season content | Season 1 plans, including a new faction, maps, weapons, Ranked Play and Capture the Flag. |
Ubisoft summarized the gameplay reveals in its Forward 2024 recap.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows: combat and stealth gameplay
Ubisoft said the showcase included 13 minutes of new Assassin’s Creed Shadows gameplay footage. The demonstration contrasted Naoe infiltrating a castle with Yasuke confronting enemies directly, and highlighted destructible armor, posture attacks and multiple weapons. The footage was a gameplay segment, not the length of the full Forward event. Ubisoft’s detailed account of the demonstration also announced a November 15, 2024 release date and listed PS5 among the platforms. Those are announcements made in 2024, not confirmation of present-day release status or availability.
Star Wars Outlaws: Kay Vess on Tatooine
The Star Wars Outlaws gameplay showcase followed Kay Vess during a Tatooine mission, where she searched for a gunslinger who could help upgrade her blaster skills. Ubisoft’s Forward gameplay article said the game was slated for August 30, 2024 on Xbox Series X|S, PS5 and PC via Ubisoft Connect. It also described an August 27 early-access option tied at the time to certain editions or Ubisoft+ Premium. Both dates and that access offer are historical details from the 2024 announcement; they do not establish current purchase options or availability.

Before the event, Ubisoft had confirmed the featured franchises, schedule and viewing routes.
