Ubisoft intentionally shut down Rainbow Six Siege and its Marketplace on December 27, 2025, while it worked to resolve an incident. The game reopened on December 29 after Ubisoft tested and rolled back transactions from the incident period. Ubisoft later said player inventories had been restored. Its updates did not identify the technical entry point or responsible actor, so the exact cause of the incident remains unconfirmed in the available statements.
Are Rainbow Six Siege servers down now?
Ubisoft’s service-status page showed no issues for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, or Xbox One in its October 6, 2026 update. Because the page reports live service status, check Ubisoft’s service-status page again if you cannot connect; the October status is not a guarantee about a later outage.
Why did Ubisoft shut down Siege?
Ubisoft said the game and Marketplace were intentionally taken offline so the team could focus on resolving the incident. The Rainbow Six account’s shutdown update, reproduced in a community transcript, said: “Update: Siege and the Marketplace have been intentionally shut down while the team focuses on resolving the issue.” The transcript is not a first-party Ubisoft page.
Ubisoft said it was rolling back transactions made during the incident window. The Rainbow Six account also said the ban-ticker messages players saw were not triggered by Ubisoft, and that players would not be banned for spending credits received during the incident. These operational updates are recorded in the same community transcript.

Was Rainbow Six Siege hacked?
Ubisoft’s actions and statements establish that it responded to an incident involving unauthorized transactions and took services offline to address it. The sources cited here do not establish how access was obtained, which vulnerability—if any—was used, who was responsible, or the full scope of backend manipulation. Do not treat player speculation or unverified estimates of currency or its monetary value as confirmed incident details.

In its January 30, 2026 Player Protection in Year 11 update, Ubisoft said: “While we are continuing our investigation, there is no indication that players’ personal data or any source code was compromised.” That is what Ubisoft said at that time; it was not a declaration that the investigation had concluded.

The Marketplace has a separate status from the game servers. Ubisoft’s June 30, 2026 Marketplace & Economy: A New Direction update said the Marketplace remained closed while the company worked on account security, fraud detection, and economy management. This is a dated update, not a live status check; the game’s October 6 service listing and the Marketplace update describe different services at different times.
