UFL’s first gameplay footage was revealed on January 27, 2022, when Strikerz also announced Cristiano Ronaldo as one of five ambassadors. His connection to the game later expanded: Strikerz announced him as an investor in December 2023 and now describes him as a shareholder. UFL has since launched as a free-to-play game, so the 2022 reveal is a milestone in its history—not a description of its current availability.
When was UFL gameplay revealed?
Strikerz presented UFL’s first gameplay footage in a YouTube reveal on January 27, 2022. Video Games Chronicle reported that Ronaldo was among five named ambassadors, alongside Oleksandr Zinchenko, Romelu Lukaku, Roberto Firmino and Kevin De Bruyne. Video Games Chronicle’s January 27, 2022 report covered the reveal and the studio’s pitch for a new football game.
At the time, Strikerz presented UFL as free to play, focused on skill and intended to match players with opponents of similar ability. CEO Eugene Nashilov told VGC that the studio respected what football games had achieved, but believed “the community has been longing for a change.” He described the goal as making a game “immune to the issues that are blocking the genre’s progress.” Those remarks explain the ambition behind the reveal; they are not independent evidence that every match or current mechanic delivers on it.
Is Cristiano Ronaldo in UFL, and did he invest?
Yes. Ronaldo’s first announced role was ambassador at the January 2022 reveal. In December 2023, Strikerz announced that he had joined a group of investors that committed more than $40 million to UFL development. The figure refers to the group’s commitment, not an amount attributed to Ronaldo personally. Strikerz said he would help shape the game’s development. Ronaldo said: “I’m thrilled to be a part of this project as UFL can become the new breed in football gaming.” (Strikerz’s December 2023 investment announcement.)

Strikerz’s current company page identifies Ronaldo as a shareholder. That is the latest role described there; it does not make the original ambassador announcement inaccurate, but it is incomplete on its own as an account of his continuing connection to UFL. Strikerz Inc.’s current company page
What is UFL’s “fair to play” promise?
Strikerz has positioned UFL around fair, skill-based competition and a free-to-play model. Its current page describes the game as “fair to play” and promotes competition without pay-to-win advantages. These are the developer’s stated aims, not independently measured findings about matchmaking, balance or monetization in the live game. The available reveal coverage likewise reports the studio’s stated philosophy rather than proving that every match achieves it.

UFL is a free-to-play game. Strikerz currently lists PlayStation 5, PlayStation 5 Pro, Xbox Series X|S and PC, with optional cross-play. The current list is the relevant one for availability: 2022 reveal-era coverage mentioned PlayStation 4 and Xbox One as planned platforms, but those are not included on Strikerz’s current platform page. You do not need a PlayStation console to play: the Xbox and PC versions are also listed. If you want the PS5 version, a PS5 console is one supported option; UFL itself is free to play.

Is UFL on mobile?
UFL’s May 22, 2026 announcement said mobile had entered a global-access soft-launch stage. That is not the same as a completed full global launch: the announcement said the full mobile launch would follow later in 2026. It also said UFL had first launched in December 2024 and reported more than 7 million players since launch. That player total is UFL’s own figure, not an independently audited count. Because the mobile announcement’s stated full-launch timing was later in 2026, check the game’s current mobile listing or official channels for its status now. UFL’s May 22, 2026 mobile announcement

VGC’s 2022 report named AS Monaco, Beşiktaş JK, Borussia Mönchengladbach, Celtic, Rangers, Shakhtar Donetsk, Sporting CP and West Ham United as partner clubs at the time. Nashilov said the partnerships were meant to connect clubs and fans, not simply secure licences. That was the reveal-era list, not a guarantee that all those partnerships remain current.
