What the remake changed in the prologue
In an August 14, 2024 PlayStation Blog post, Ballistic Moon creative director Neil McEwan said the remake keeps the original narrative intact but adjusts the prologue’s pacing. The team gave the Washington family more screen time to develop their family bond and reframed some scenes while adding context around the prank. That makes “revamped intro” a fair shorthand for the officially described prologue changes. It does not establish that any purported leak showed the new intro, or that the leak revealed details beyond what the developer has publicly explained.
Is the alleged three-hour PS5 leak verified?
No. A Reddit discussion titled “Until Dawn PS5 Leaked gameplay” contains users speculating about purported footage, including whether it was authentic and how long it ran. That discussion does not verify who posted a video, when it was captured, which version it showed, whether the prologue appeared or whether three hours of footage were available. What else is different in the 2024 remake?
PlayStation announced the enhanced game for PS5 and PC in January 2024. Ballistic Moon described rebuilding it in Unreal Engine 5, with updated character models, environments, visual effects and animations, plus revised lighting. The remake combines fixed camera views with an over-the-shoulder perspective, rather than relying only on the original’s fixed framing. Exploration and accessibility
The developer also described relocated original totems, new Hunger totems, small new areas and interactions, and accessibility and usability settings. An optional Stay Calm setting offers an alternative to the Don’t Move mechanic. These additions are part of the official feature description; they do not authenticate the purported leaked footage.

Platforms and release date
The enhanced version launched for PS5 and PC on October 4, 2024, according to PlayStation’s announcement. The PC release announcement specified that a PlayStation Network account was required. The US PlayStation Store listing identifies the PS5 edition as published by Sony Interactive Entertainment and describes DualSense vibration and trigger-effect support. The prologue changes are confirmed by the developer; the three-hour PS5 leak is not. The official account supports a more deliberate introduction to the Washington family and additional context around the prank, while the available leak discussion cannot establish that the footage was genuine or showed those changes.
