The current PC specification lists Windows 10 or 11, 16 GB of RAM, DirectX 12, an SSD with 60 GB free, and hardware around a Radeon RX 5600 XT or GeForce GTX 1660 Ti at minimum. That tier is associated with 30 frames per second at 1080p on Low with upscaling. The recommended list rises to a Ryzen 7 5800X or Core i5-13400, Radeon RX 6800 or GeForce RTX 3070, and a stated target of 60 FPS at 1440p on Medium with upscaling.
Those frame rates are storefront targets, not independent benchmark results or guarantees for every computer. Xbox lists the game for PC and says PC Game Pass and Ultimate availability is “coming,” so confirm the live catalog, your region and the subscription tier before assuming it is playable through Game Pass today.

Valor Mortis PC requirements at a glance
The latest release-facing Steam listing is the best reference for the current requirements. It specifies the same 16 GB memory, DirectX 12 and SSD requirement for both tiers, while changing the processor, graphics card, free-space figure and performance target between minimum and recommended hardware.

The current Steam listing does not identify a precise upscaling technology, quality mode, or complete graphics-menu inventory. Do not treat the table as a promise that every PC with one of the listed parts will deliver a locked frame rate.

What the published targets actually mean
Minimum target: 1080p, Low and 30 FPS
The minimum line is built around 1080p output, the Low preset and upscaling, with a stated 30 FPS target. It is a reasonable starting point for a PC close to the Ryzen 5 3600/Core i5-10600K and RX 5600 XT/GTX 1660 Ti class. It is not a statement that weaker hardware will launch the game, nor does it establish how consistently 30 FPS is maintained in every scene.
Recommended target: 1440p, Medium and 60 FPS
The recommended line pairs 1440p with Medium settings and upscaling for a stated 60 FPS target. This is a substantially more demanding display target than 1080p Low, so a PC that meets the minimum GPU should not be expected to reach the recommended result simply by changing one setting. The listing gives no independently measured frame-time data, test route or hardware configuration beyond the named parts.
Why “60 fps+” on Xbox is not a PC benchmark
The Xbox product page includes “60 fps+” as a platform capability label. That label is not a test result for the PC version and does not mean every listed PC reaches 60 FPS. Likewise, the Steam numbers are published targets rather than a laboratory benchmark.

Is Valor Mortis included with PC Game Pass?
Xbox’s US store page identifies PC and Xbox Series X|S as supported platforms, marks the game as Xbox Play Anywhere, and shows PC-only and Ultimate subscription tiers under a “coming to” presentation. That wording establishes an announced listing, not permanent or universal access.
Game Pass catalogs can vary by country, subscription tier and date. Before installing, open the live Xbox listing at the Valor Mortis product page, sign in with the account you will use to play, and verify that the PC version is available in your region and included in your tier. If the page still says “coming,” do not describe the game as currently playable through the subscription.

- Identify the processor and graphics card. In Windows, open Settings > System > About for the CPU, then use Task Manager > Performance to see the GPU model. Compare the names with the minimum or recommended rows; do not assume a different generation is an exact equivalent.
- Confirm memory. Task Manager > Performance > Memory should show at least 16 GB installed. Available memory can be lower while other programs are running, so close unnecessary applications before judging in-game performance.
- Check Windows. The current listing supports Windows 10 and Windows 11. Install the latest supported updates for your edition before troubleshooting launch or driver problems.
- Verify DirectX 12 capability. Press Win+R, enter
dxdiag, and inspect the System and Display tabs. The game requires DirectX 12; a DirectX version number alone does not make an older GPU meet the required feature support. - Check the installation drive. The requirement is an SSD with 60 GB free. In File Explorer, right-click the intended drive, choose Properties and confirm both that it is an SSD and that at least 60 GB is available. Leave extra headroom for updates rather than filling the drive to its limit.
- Choose a target before launching. Decide whether you are aiming for the listed 1080p/Low/30 FPS minimum target or the 1440p/Medium/60 FPS recommended target. Your target determines which tier is relevant when comparing a PC.
A practical settings plan for 30 FPS or 60 FPS
The reviewed official pages do not document every in-game option, so the safest approach is to use the published presets and resolution targets without inventing menu names or unsupported features.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
For a system near minimum requirements
- Begin at 1920×1080 with the Low preset.
- Enable the game’s upscaling option if it is offered. The listing associates upscaling with the 30 FPS target, but it does not name the technology or quality setting.
- Measure play in the busiest area you can reach, not only in a quiet menu or corridor. If performance is below the target, reduce output resolution or the available image-quality options before raising the preset.
- Keep background applications closed and make sure the game is installed on the required SSD. These steps do not turn below-spec hardware into a supported configuration, but they remove avoidable contention.
For a system near recommended requirements
- Start at 2560×1440 with the Medium preset.
- Use upscaling when available, because the published 60 FPS target explicitly includes it.
- Check whether demanding scenes hold the target before adding any optional quality setting. The official material does not establish whether ray tracing, frame generation or a particular upscaler exists, so those controls should not be assumed.
- If 60 FPS is not sustained, test 1080p or a lower available preset and compare the result. A higher refresh-rate monitor cannot create frames that the PC is not rendering.
How to interpret an unstable result
A target printed beside a requirement is an expectation for that tier, not a universal lock. Differences in laptop power limits, cooling, driver versions, background processes, game updates and the exact scene can change performance. Record the resolution, preset and upscaling state whenever you compare results; otherwise two “60 FPS” reports may describe different workloads.
The older demo requirements are not the final table
Some pages still show an earlier specification: Windows 11, a Ryzen 7 3700X or Core i7-11700, Radeon RX 6700 or GeForce RTX 2070 Super, 16 GB RAM, DirectX 12 and 50 GB on an SSD. The earlier Steam page explicitly says, “This demo spec is subject to change for the final release.”

The AMD game page repeats the AMD-only portion of the older set. It also uses a promotional heading mentioning AMD FSR Redstone, but it does not establish which FSR version, mode or control is available in Valor Mortis. Use the newer Steam table for planning and treat the older figures as historical context. Recheck the store page after release because storefront snapshots can change and are not perfectly synchronized.
Sources for the provisional figures are the earlier Steam page and AMD’s Valor Mortis page.

Graphics card
For a gaming system that misses the table, compare the GPU first. The two published tiers associate the larger jump in resolution, preset and frame rate with the move from RX 5600 XT/GTX 1660 Ti to RX 6800/RTX 3070. That comparison does not make any unlisted card a guaranteed equivalent; use the named tiers as reference points rather than as a promise of identical performance.

Processor
Check the CPU after the GPU, especially if your graphics card is near a listed tier but the processor is substantially older or slower. The minimum and recommended rows use different CPU classes, and the game requires a modern DirectX 12-capable Windows system.
SSD and capacity
An SSD is a stated requirement, not an optional convenience. If the game drive is a hard disk or has less than 60 GB free, storage is the first practical blocker. The specification does not distinguish NVMe from SATA, prescribe a capacity beyond the free-space figure, or require that every player buy a new drive. Upgrade only when your existing storage fails the requirement.
Memory
Both tiers list 16 GB RAM, so adding memory is not the first upgrade suggested by the published table if your computer already has that amount. If it has less, bring it to the listed capacity before judging other components.

For the listed 1440p Medium 60 FPS target, plan around the RX 6800/RTX 3070 and Ryzen 7 5800X/Core i5-13400 class.
