The store’s minimum target is 30 frames per second at 1080p on Low with upscaling. For the recommended tier, Steam lists a Ryzen 7 5800X or Core i5-13400, a Radeon RX 6800 or GeForce RTX 3070, 16 GB of RAM, and a target of 60 fps at 1440p on Medium with upscaling. Both tiers require Windows 10/11, DirectX 12 and 60 GB on an SSD.

The listing does not say that an NVMe drive is mandatory; it specifies an SSD. It also does not publish a separate laptop-GPU list or a conversion chart for hardware that is not named.
What the minimum specification actually means
It is a modern discrete-GPU baseline
The minimum is not aimed at integrated graphics. A Radeon RX 5600 XT or GeForce GTX 1660 Ti is a dedicated graphics card, and the paired processors are six-core desktop chips from the Ryzen 3000 and 10th-generation Core eras. A computer with only Intel UHD graphics, an older entry-level Radeon, or a low-power integrated GPU should not be assumed to meet the target simply because it has 16 GB of RAM.

Expect the listed 1080p Low target, not unlimited headroom
Steam describes the minimum tier as 30 fps at 1920×1080 on the Low preset with upscaling. That wording implies that the game is expected to render internally below the output resolution when an upscaler is enabled. It does not establish a fixed internal resolution, a locked frame rate in every scene, or performance with upscaling disabled. If your system is close to the named parts, Low settings and the game’s upscaling option are the sensible starting point.
Sixteen gigabytes of memory is required in both tiers
Valor Mortis does not distinguish between 16 GB and 32 GB in its published table: both minimum and recommended call for 16 GB. That is the stated requirement, but available memory matters. Browsers, launchers, recording software and background utilities can consume several gigabytes before the game starts. Closing unnecessary applications and using a two-module, dual-channel configuration can help a borderline system, but neither is a substitute for the listed capacity.
Recommended hardware and what it buys you
Processor: Ryzen 7 5800X or Core i5-13400
The recommended CPUs move from the minimum’s Ryzen 5 3600/Core i5-10600K class to a Ryzen 7 5800X or Core i5-13400. The newer tier gives the game more processing headroom for world simulation, enemy behavior, streaming and frame-time consistency. It does not mean that every processor with a higher model number will perform identically: laptop power limits, cooling and sustained clock speeds can change the result.

Graphics: Radeon RX 6800 or GeForce RTX 3070
The recommended GPU class is substantially above the minimum. Steam pairs it with a 1440p, Medium, 60-fps target and upscaling. The table names the Radeon RX 6800 and GeForce RTX 3070 as examples of that tier; it does not specify ray-tracing settings, a particular upscaling technology, or performance at 4K. Those settings should therefore be treated as unknown until the game exposes them and receives final performance testing.
Why the RAM requirement does not rise
Both tiers list 16 GB, so buying more memory is not the first upgrade implied by the official table. If your machine already has 16 GB but suffers from hitching, investigate available memory, background processes, storage health and graphics settings before assuming that 32 GB is required.
Storage, operating system and DirectX prerequisites
Install on an SSD with 60 GB free
The store requires an SSD and 60 GB of available space. “Available” means free capacity at installation time, not the drive’s advertised total. Keep additional room for patches, shader caches and the operating system; a drive that is almost full can also lose performance. Steam does not state that the drive must be NVMe, so a compatible SATA SSD satisfies the published storage class.

Windows 10 or Windows 11
The current listing supports Windows 10/11. It does not identify a special edition, service-pack level or processor security feature. Install current Windows updates and graphics drivers, but do not infer support for older Windows releases from the fact that the game uses DirectX 12.
DirectX 12
Both tiers specify DirectX 12. A graphics card must support the required DirectX 12 feature set through its driver; simply having a DirectX 12 runtime installed does not make an unsupported GPU compatible. Windows normally supplies the runtime, while the card manufacturer supplies the driver.
How to check your PC against the list
- Identify Windows: Open Settings > System > About and check the Windows edition and version. Confirm that you are running Windows 10 or Windows 11.
- Check the processor: In the same About page, read the processor model. Compare the complete model name with Ryzen 5 3600/Core i5-10600K for minimum or Ryzen 7 5800X/Core i5-13400 for recommended. Do not compare only the Ryzen 5, Ryzen 7, Core i5 or Core i7 label.
- Check memory: Go to Settings > System > About or Task Manager > Performance > Memory. You need 16 GB installed, with enough free memory after Windows and background applications load.
- Check the active GPU: Open Task Manager > Performance > GPU or run
dxdiagand read the Display tab. A desktop may show more than one adapter; compare the one used for games, not an inactive integrated adapter. - Check the drive and capacity: In File Explorer, right-click the intended library drive, choose Properties, and verify that it is an SSD with at least 60 GB free. Leave headroom for updates rather than filling the disk to the last gigabyte.
- Verify DirectX: Press
Win+R, enterdxdiag, and read the DirectX Version line. The GPU and its driver still need to support the game’s DirectX 12 requirements.
Meeting every minimum line places the PC in the store’s 30-fps/1080p Low target category. It does not guarantee that a component just below a named model will fail, nor does it guarantee that a faster component will deliver 60 fps at every setting.

Desktop and laptop comparisons
Desktop model names are the clearest match for this table. Laptop parts can carry the same family name while using different power limits, cooling systems and memory configurations. The Steam page does not publish laptop equivalents, so a mobile RTX 3070, for example, should not be treated as automatically identical to a desktop RTX 3070. Check the laptop manufacturer’s exact GPU power rating and the processor’s sustained performance, then use the listed targets as guidance rather than a promise.
External displays add another variable. A laptop connected to a 1440p monitor has to render more pixels than the minimum 1080p target, while a 1080p panel may reduce the workload. Use the game’s output resolution and upscaling settings when judging whether your expected use matches the store target.

Do not upgrade memory or storage while ignoring a graphics card that is well below the minimum. Conversely, replacing a GPU will not solve installation failures caused by a nearly full or non-SSD drive.

Why older Valor Mortis requirements still appear online
Earlier English Steam and AMD materials showed a different table. That version listed Windows 11, 50 GB of storage, a Ryzen 7 3700X or Core i7-11700 minimum processor, and an RX 6700 or RTX 2070 Super minimum GPU. Its recommended tier was a Ryzen 7 7700 or Core i7-13700 with an RX 7900 GRE or RTX 4070. Those figures are higher than the current live Steam values and should be treated as superseded, demo-era information rather than blended with the current table.
A developer response on Steam Community on June 10, 2026 said the earlier specification was subject to change. That explains why screenshots, partner pages and older search results can disagree with the live store page. When the numbers conflict, use the current Steam listing and recheck it near launch, because system requirements are time-sensitive.
Interpreting the performance targets
Minimum target: 1080p, Low, 30 fps
This is a baseline for playing at 1080p with reduced visual settings and upscaling enabled. It is not a claim that every demanding scene will hold a perfect 30 fps, and it says nothing about native 1080p without upscaling. If performance dips, lower demanding options first, keep upscaling enabled and confirm that the game is using the discrete GPU.

Recommended target: 1440p, Medium, 60 fps
This target raises both resolution and frame-rate expectations while moving to Medium settings. It is still tied to upscaling. The listing does not promise 60 fps at High or Ultra, at 4K, with ray tracing, or with upscaling disabled. Those combinations require separate testing and should not be inferred from the table.
Common problems before the first launch
- Installer says there is not enough space: Free more than the stated 60 GB, select an SSD library, and account for temporary update space.
- The game starts on the wrong GPU: In Windows, open Settings > System > Display > Graphics, add the game executable, and choose the high-performance GPU.
- Stutter appears despite meeting minimum specs: Close background applications, update the GPU driver, check that the SSD is healthy and not full, and begin with the Low preset and upscaling.
- A laptop runs slower than an apparently matching desktop: Connect AC power, select the system’s performance mode, check temperatures and compare the exact mobile GPU power configuration; the store supplies no laptop equivalency table.
- DirectX errors appear: Update Windows and the graphics driver, then run
dxdiagto confirm DirectX 12 and the active adapter. A runtime version alone cannot add unsupported hardware features.
Release timing and requirement changes
Steam lists Valor Mortis as a first-person Souls-like from One More Level, co-published by One More Level and Lyrical Games, with a planned release date of October 13, 2026. Requirements can change as launch builds and drivers are finalized. Check the live Steam system-requirements panel immediately before installing, especially if you are relying on a borderline CPU, GPU or storage setup.
