VAL 43 means “A system has timed out.” Riot’s first recommended action is to close the game and restart the Riot Client, then try VALORANT again. If the code returns, check Riot Support banners and the live VALORANT service-status page before changing anything on your computer.

Riot’s error-code article, published June 2, 2026, gives one specific first action: Go ahead and restart the Riot Client. That instruction is more useful than repeatedly pressing Retry inside the game, because it clears the launcher session that handles authentication and starts a fresh connection attempt.

Riot also warns that its error-code list can be out of date. Treat the code as a starting point rather than a complete diagnosis. Current Support Site banners and the live VALORANT service-status page are the authoritative places to check for an incident or maintenance window.

Fix VAL 43 in the order Riot recommends

1. Exit VALORANT. Close the game normally if it is responsive. If it is frozen, use your operating system’s normal close or force-close control.
2. Restart the Riot Client. Quit the client completely rather than leaving its window minimized. Start it again from the usual shortcut or application launcher.
3. Retry the launch or login. Attempt the same action that produced VAL 43. A successful retry after one client restart indicates a transient timeout; it does not establish a permanent fix for recurring errors.
4. Check Riot’s current status information if the code returns. Look for an alert banner on the Riot Support Site and review the VALORANT service-status page for an active incident or planned maintenance.

Is VAL 43 caused by an outage or by your PC?

Use the evidence available at the time of the failure. The same code can occur during a platform-side incident and during a local problem, so the useful question is whether the symptom is shared and persistent.

The absence of a status notice is not proof that Riot’s services are healthy; status pages can lag an emerging incident. Conversely, a status notice does not prove that every VAL 43 report has the same cause. Use the notice, repeatability, and performance evidence together.

When the problem persists, enable VALORANT’s performance-statistics displays in the game settings and observe them during the failure. Look for indicators that point toward connection instability versus indicators that point toward client performance. Record what you see instead of relying on a general impression that “the internet is slow.” If the client cannot stay open long enough to display statistics, record the exact stage at which it fails (launch, login, queue, or reconnect) for your support ticket.

When to contact Riot Player Support

Submit a Riot Player Support ticket when restarting the client and checking current service information do not resolve the problem, especially when VAL 43 recurs. A useful ticket gives support a reproducible timeline instead of only the code number.

Include these details

• The exact error code: VAL 43.
• The date and time of each failure, including your time zone if relevant.
• Your region.

Assuming the code proves your internet is broken

VAL 43 says that a system timed out; it does not name your router, Wi-Fi, internet provider, or computer as the cause. Check the service-status information and performance evidence before changing network equipment or settings.

Reinstalling immediately

A reinstall is a substantial change and is not listed by Riot as the first VAL 43 remedy. It can also make later diagnosis harder by removing useful local evidence. Escalate with the requested logs if the documented restart and status checks fail.
