VAL 62 means VALORANT cannot find a game pod to ping. Riot labels the code NoGamepodsToPingFailure and describes it as a network problem. The quickest official fix is to restart the Riot Client. If the code returns, determine whether packet loss is occurring on your connection or whether Riot is experiencing a service incident, then send the evidence to Riot Support if the failure continues.
VAL 62 does not prove that your home internet is broken. Wireless interference, a router or ISP path dropping packets, and a Riot-side outage can produce similar symptoms. The sequence below separates those possibilities without changing settings that Riot has not identified as requirements for this code.

What VAL 62 means
Riot’s published error table maps 62 to NoGamepodsToPingFailure. In plain language, the client cannot successfully reach or test the game-server endpoint (the “game pod”) it needs to contact. Riot’s description is: “Something seems to be amiss with your network.”
The wording points to connectivity, not to a ban, a missing game file, or a performance problem with your graphics card. It also does not identify the exact fault domain. The failed path could be your Wi-Fi link, your router, your internet service provider (ISP), an intermediate route, or Riot’s service.

Riot’s table currently carries a warning that it is out of date and that a recent issue may cause VALORANT errors to display incorrectly. If the code appears during a broader incident, check the VALORANT Discord or the banner on Riot’s Support Site for the latest explanation rather than treating the numeric code as definitive.
Do this first: restart the Riot Client
Riot’s first-line instruction for code 62 is to restart the Riot Client. A full client restart clears a stalled session and forces a fresh connection attempt.
- Close VALORANT normally.
- Exit the Riot Client from its menu or notification-area icon. If it remains open, close the remaining Riot Client window before continuing.
- Launch the Riot Client again and sign in if prompted.
- Start VALORANT and try the same action that produced VAL 62.
If the error disappears, you do not need to change DNS, reinstall Vanguard, or replace hardware. If it comes back, continue with the checks below instead of repeatedly relaunching the game.
Check whether Riot is having an incident
Before troubleshooting your own network, open Riot’s live service-status page and look for an active VALORANT incident. A service problem can prevent many players from reaching game pods even when their local connections are healthy.
For context, Riot’s status page showed an in-progress VALORANT map-disable incident dated October 15, 2026, at 23:42 UTC when this information was checked. That notice demonstrates that service-side failures occur; it did not specifically attribute VAL 62 to that incident. Do not infer a cause from a nearby date or from another feature being disabled.

- Status page reports an incident: wait for Riot’s update and retry after service is restored. Local changes are unlikely to fix a server-side event.
- No incident is listed: continue with packet-loss and local-network tests. A status page can lag a developing outage, so keep the result as a time-stamped clue rather than absolute proof.
- Riot’s banner or Discord reports a known error-display issue: follow that notice, because the number shown by the client may not accurately identify the underlying fault.
Use packet-loss graphs to find the failing link
VAL 62 is a reachability failure, so packet loss is more informative than a speed-test download number. Riot’s network guidance says a high-quality wired or wireless connection should have near-zero packet loss and recommends a wired test when instability indicators appear.
Enable both VALORANT graphs
- Open VALORANT’s Settings.
- Open the Stats tab.
- Turn on the graphs for Incoming Packet Loss and Outgoing Packet Loss. Set them to display while playing rather than as a hidden summary.
- Attempt to connect again or enter a practice or match queue long enough to reproduce the symptom.
Record which graph moves above zero, when it happens, and whether the game disconnects at the same moment. A sustained or repeated spike is more useful than a single transient blip. Capture a screenshot or short recording with the clock visible if you plan to contact support.

Interpret what you see
- Incoming loss: packets travelling from the internet toward your computer are being dropped somewhere along the route. Wi-Fi interference, the router, the ISP, or a remote service can all be involved.
- Outgoing loss: packets leaving your computer are being dropped. A weak wireless uplink, overloaded router, damaged cable, or upstream ISP issue is possible.
- Both directions: the local wireless link, router, access line, or a service-side path is unstable.
- No visible loss but VAL 62 persists: the failure may be an endpoint or service incident that the short graph window did not capture. Keep the time of the error and check Riot’s status information.
Restart the router and repeat the test
Power-cycling the router can clear a temporary state or a saturated connection, but it is a diagnostic step, not a guaranteed cure.
- Close VALORANT and the Riot Client.
- Unplug the router’s power cable. If you use a separate modem or fiber terminal, power that off as well.
- Wait at least 30 seconds, then power the modem or terminal back on first.
- Wait for its normal connection lights, then power the router back on.
- Reconnect your computer, relaunch the Riot Client, and repeat the packet-loss test.
If packet loss returns immediately, note the time and whether other devices lose connectivity. Router event logs or diagnostics may show link resets, WAN disconnects, or errors; save those entries before they roll off the log.

Test with a wired Ethernet connection
Wi-Fi can introduce interference, distance-related signal loss, roaming between access points, and contention with other devices. Riot specifically recommends trying a wired connection when instability indicators appear. Connect the computer directly to the router with an Ethernet cable, disable Wi-Fi temporarily, and repeat the same VALORANT test.
- Loss stops on Ethernet: the wireless segment is the leading suspect. Move closer to the access point, reduce interference, or have the wireless network checked; the cable test has isolated the problem but does not prove which Wi-Fi setting is at fault.
- Loss continues on Ethernet: look at the router’s WAN logs and the ISP path, then compare with Riot’s service status.
- You cannot run Ethernet: test near the access point with other high-bandwidth devices paused. Treat that result as less conclusive than a direct cable.
An Ethernet cable is useful here as a test accessory. It cannot repair an outage or packet loss occurring beyond your router.

These clues are not mutually exclusive. A developing Riot incident can coincide with a local packet-loss spike, and a brief restart can hide an intermittent line fault. Use the timing and repeatability of each test rather than one result in isolation.
What not to change without evidence
For VAL 62, Riot’s documented instructions establish a client restart and support escalation, plus general network checks. They do not establish VPN use, DNS changes, a particular router brand, or Vanguard reinstallation as required fixes. Those changes can create new variables, interfere with routing, or consume time while an outage is still active.

Do not disable security software broadly or reset every network setting merely because the code contains the word “network.” First collect packet-loss graphs, the wired-versus-wireless result, router information, and the service-status result. If a later Riot Support instruction calls for a specific change, follow that instruction and record what changed.

Contact the ISP when packet loss remains on a direct Ethernet connection, router diagnostics show WAN errors, or other wired services fail at the same time. Tell the representative that the issue is intermittent packet loss or reachability, not simply slow download speed.
Provide:
- The date and exact UTC or local times of VAL 62 occurrences.
- Incoming and outgoing packet-loss screenshots from VALORANT.
- The result of the router restart.
- The result of the Ethernet test.
- Relevant router WAN or connection-reset log entries.
- Whether other wired devices were affected.
The ISP can use those timestamps to correlate line events or upstream routing problems. Keep the original files; compressed screenshots that omit the time or graph labels are harder to act on.
When to submit a Riot Support ticket
Riot says to submit a ticket if restarting the Riot Client does not resolve VAL 62. Do so after checking service status and collecting the network evidence above, or immediately if the error prevents you from completing those checks.

Include your account and system details as requested by the support form, then describe the sequence in chronological order: first client restart, status-page result, packet-loss observations, router restart, and wired-test result. Attach screenshots of both packet-loss graphs and relevant router logs. State whether the error affects only VALORANT or other services too. This gives support a reproducible timeline instead of a bare error number.
Frequently misunderstood points
Is VAL 62 always my internet?
No. Riot categorizes it as a network-related failure, but the failed network path can include Riot’s own service. A clean local test does not rule out an incident at the game-service end.

No. Speed tests measure throughput under their own conditions. VALORANT needs a stable, low-loss path to its game pod; a connection can deliver high download speeds while dropping game traffic intermittently.
Will restarting the router always fix it?
No. It may clear a temporary router state, but persistent loss after the restart points toward the wireless segment, router hardware, ISP path, or a service incident.
Is there a published VAL 62 success rate or outage frequency?
No authoritative frequency, outage-rate, or fix-success statistic is provided in Riot’s published material for this code. Treat individual reports or percentages elsewhere as anecdotal unless Riot supplies a measured figure.
Bottom line
VAL 62 is Riot’s NoGamepodsToPingFailure: VALORANT cannot complete the network reachability check it needs. Restart the Riot Client first. Then check Riot’s status information, inspect incoming and outgoing packet-loss graphs, restart the router, and compare Wi-Fi with a wired Ethernet test. Take persistent loss to the ISP with timestamps and logs, and submit the complete evidence to Riot Support when the code continues.
