If your VALORANT Ranked Gun Buddy is missing or appears to have the wrong name, first identify the season and Acts the reward is for. Riot’s reward rules and delivery timing can vary by season. For an unresolved missing or incorrect item, contact Riot Player Support with the relevant season and account details; a missing buddy by itself does not show that your account was penalized.
What a Ranked Gun Buddy represents
A Ranked Gun Buddy is a digital Competitive reward tied to your Act Rank record. Riot introduced it to recognize a player’s top Act Rank for an Episode reward cycle—not simply the rank currently displayed on their profile.
Riot’s 2021 explanation described the highest triangle rank on the Act Rank Badge as determining the Act rank used for the Episode reward. That explanation also said nine wins were needed to fill the badge. These are historical details from the system described at the time, not a universal statement of current requirements. Check the reward period before judging eligibility
Work out which season or Episode reward you expected, then compare your Competitive history with the rule Riot announced for that period. Your current visible rank may not be the rank the reward represents.

Season 2025
For Season 2025, Riot said the Ranked Gun Buddy would reflect the highest rank achieved across the season’s first three Acts. Riot planned to distribute it with Patch 11.00, when Act IV began. That three-Act window and timing apply to Season 2025; they should not be assumed to describe later seasons. Riot’s Patch Notes 10.08 set out the Season 2025 rule.
Other seasons and Episodes
Reward periods and delivery timing are season-specific. Riot’s original explanation said Episode rewards would arrive shortly after the next Episode began, while its Season 2025 announcement gave a particular patch and Act. If your question concerns another season, check Riot’s announcement for that reward period rather than applying the 2025 schedule or the historical nine-win explanation as a current universal rule.

If the buddy looks wrong: the documented V25A3/V25A6 issue
Riot’s Patch 11.11 notes, published December 2, 2025, documented a temporary display-name error: V25A3 Ranked Gun Buddies could appear in the Collection as “V25A6.” Riot said the V25A3 buddy for the first three Acts of Season 2025 was safe. It planned to restore the correct name and grant a V25A6 buddy to players who earned an Act rank in the last three Acts of that season in Patch 12.00. Riot’s Patch Notes 11.11 describes the issue and planned correction.
Riot’s Patch 13.06 notes, published September 22, 2026, discuss Competitive and Collection interface changes but do not confirm whether the Patch 12.00 correction shipped. That omission does not establish the status of an individual account. Treat the V25A3/V25A6 case as a documented historical issue with a planned correction, not as a diagnosis for every buddy that currently looks wrong. Riot’s Patch Notes 13.06 provide the latest reviewed patch context.

What to do if the reward is still missing or incorrect
- Identify the reward period. Note the season or Episode and, where relevant, the Acts the buddy should represent.
- Compare your Competitive history with that period’s rule. For Season 2025, the published rule was the highest rank across the first three Acts. Do not use your current visible rank alone as proof of what you earned in a past reward period.
- Separate a naming mismatch from a missing item. Riot documented a V25A3 buddy appearing under the V25A6 name, but that issue does not explain every absent or incorrectly named buddy.
- Contact Riot Player Support if it remains unresolved. Include the season or Episode, the expected reward, and a clear description of what appears in your Collection. Riot’s reviewed materials do not establish a specific current support form or a client-side fix, so avoid relying on unverified steps or sharing your account credentials.
Does a bad Act or lower rank mean Riot removed the reward?
Not by itself. Riot’s 2026 fair-play announcement says confirmed boosting, win-trading, and related Competitive manipulation can lead to suspensions, rank or MMR reversals, and reversals of rewards tied to manipulated rank. Riot also distinguishes manipulation from normal play: a bad game or bad Act is part of Competitive play. A missing buddy alone is not evidence that your account was penalized.
