The May 2026 recipe guide from Pro Game Guides reports 15 standard evolutions and one Union: Phieraggi. The table below gives every combination reported there, followed by the exact run procedure, socket rules, and checks for confirming recipes in your current build. Because the publisher does not publish an official recipe list, use the Grim Grimoire in-game after major patches rather than assuming this guide remains exhaustive.
How evolutions and Unions differ
Standard evolution
A standard evolution is a two-card pairing: one weapon and one matching item. You level or otherwise obtain both cards during a run, keep the weapon eligible for evolution, and then use the game’s evolution trigger. The resulting card replaces the base weapon in the build. The exact card-consumption behavior is not documented consistently: Pro Game Guides says in its step-by-step instructions that listed cards are consumed and replaced, but elsewhere says an item card remains in the deck. Treat the current game build as the authority for what leaves your deck.

Union
A Union uses several weapon cards rather than a weapon-plus-item pairing. The reported example, Phieraggi, requires Eight the Sparrow, Phiera Der Tuphello, and Tirajisú. It is therefore a heavier opportunity cost than a normal evolution: you must reserve three specific cards and meet the same evolution timing requirements. Do not assume that every multi-weapon combination is a Union; only combinations shown by the game’s current Grim Grimoire or a verified recipe should be treated as active.

The following combinations are transcribed from Pro Game Guides’ “Vampire Crawlers Evolutions Guide – All Recipes,” identified there as a May 2026 release-version guide. Alternative item names are included because card labels can vary between editions or translations. The source presents this as a complete list for its release version, but no official publisher recipe table confirms that claim.

Names such as “Forever Heart” and “Hollow Heart” or “Candle” and “Candella” should be checked against the label shown in your card collection. The recipe relationship is the important part; a renamed card is not necessarily a different ingredient.
The reported Union recipe: Phieraggi
Required cards
- Eight the Sparrow
- Phiera Der Tuphello
- Tirajisú
Pro Game Guides identifies these three cards as the ingredients for Phieraggi and says the cards are consumed when the Union is made. Since the same guide gives conflicting wording about whether item cards remain in the deck, confirm the result in your run rather than planning around a permanent copy of any ingredient. A three-card Union also competes with ordinary evolutions for draft, level-up, and deck space, so begin pursuing it only when the run can support all three weapons.
Requirements before you attempt a combination
Keep the evolving weapon’s Gem socket empty
The recipe guide says the base weapon must have an empty Gem socket when you trigger the combination. If you socket a Gem into the weapon too early, the evolution may not be offered. The fan-maintained VampireCrawlers.wiki gives the same empty-socket rule and additionally says previously socketed Gems are retained after evolution; that retention claim is community guidance, not an official rule, so verify it in your build.

Obtain the Evolution trigger
The guide describes a special Evolution Gem as the trigger. It places that trigger at an Evolution Statue or in a chest or boss reward. The fan wiki calls the location a Gem Station, so the name and presentation may differ by map or version. Look for the station or reward that explicitly offers an evolution rather than assuming an ordinary chest will combine cards.
Hold every required ingredient
For a normal evolution, that means the weapon and its paired item. For Phieraggi, it means all three named weapons. A card that is removed, destroyed, or otherwise made unavailable before the trigger cannot satisfy the recipe. Pro Game Guides warns about “Destroyed after use” item behavior, but the current build determines whether a particular card is reusable.
How to trigger an evolution during a run
- Choose a target recipe. Decide whether you are pursuing a two-card evolution or the three-card Phieraggi Union. Write down both card names before drafting so you do not spend a required slot on an incompatible alternative.
- Acquire the base weapon. Add the weapon card to the crawler’s build and develop it normally. Do not fill its Gem socket if the game shows that socket as part of the evolution requirement.
- Acquire the matching item or remaining Union weapons. For a standard recipe, obtain the listed item. For Phieraggi, collect Eight the Sparrow, Phiera Der Tuphello, and Tirajisú together.
- Check the socket immediately before the trigger. Open the weapon details and confirm that the required socket is empty. If it is occupied, remove or replace the Gem only if the current interface permits that action; otherwise, continue the run until the game provides another eligible weapon or evolution opportunity.
- Find an Evolution Gem source. Check the Evolution Statue or the chest/boss reward described by the guide. Ordinary loot is not guaranteed to perform the combination.
- Select the evolution or Union offer. The game should recognize the held cards and present the corresponding result. If no offer appears, do not spend the reward blindly: recheck card names, socket status, and whether one ingredient has already been consumed.
- Verify the result in your deck and Grim Grimoire. Confirm that Bloody Tear, Holy Wand, Phieraggi, or the relevant result has replaced or joined the build as expected. Record any difference from the table for the current patch.
Use the Grim Grimoire as your in-game authority
PC Gamer reports that the Grim Grimoire is a discovery tracker. In the Inlaid Library, clear the route to the Library West Wing to find it. The book records discovered weapon evolutions and shows which ingredients you possess, making it the safest way to check a recipe while playing. The report does not establish whether undiscovered recipes are shown in advance, so an empty entry is not proof that a combination does not exist.

Use the Grim Grimoire in three situations: before committing a run to an unfamiliar card pair, after a patch that may have changed card names or requirements, and whenever the published table conflicts with what the game offers. Treat the book’s current entry as stronger evidence than a dated guide or fan-maintained page.

Choosing which evolution to pursue
Compare recipe burden
Every standard evolution in the table asks for two cards. Phieraggi asks for three weapon cards, so it usually demands more draft luck and leaves fewer slots for defensive or utility choices. If your run is already missing one Union ingredient, a reliable two-card recipe may be the better plan.
Match the cards to your existing build
Do not choose solely by the evolved name. A recipe is efficient when its ingredient cards already support the way your crawler deals damage or survives. For example, keeping a card that controls space can be preferable to abandoning the run for a distant ingredient. Pro Game Guides offers character-specific recommendations, but those are editorial suggestions rather than an official ranking system.

Choose the effect your run needs
Use the pre-evolution role as the decision point: a forward-firing weapon, a bouncing projectile, a surrounding area effect, or a screen-clearing attack can each solve a different problem. The guide reports individual damage values for some results, including 160 for Death Spiral, 150 for Thunder Loop, and 500 for Vandalier, but those are secondary-guide values from 2026 and may change with balancing patches. Do not compare them as permanent statistics without checking the live card text.
Protect your opportunity cost
An ingredient card may be unavailable after a one-time use or destruction effect. Before spending such a card, decide whether it is more valuable as an evolution ingredient, as an immediate combat tool, or as part of a later Union. This matters most when a single item has alternate names but only one actual copy in your collection.

Troubleshooting when a recipe does not appear
The cards are correct, but there is no evolution option
- Confirm that the weapon is the exact base card, not an already evolved form.
- Check that the matching item is currently held and has not been consumed, destroyed, or replaced.
- Inspect the weapon for an empty Gem socket.
- Use the Evolution Statue or the specific chest/boss reward rather than an ordinary reward.
- Compare the card’s spelling and alternate name with the Grim Grimoire entry for your version.
The Union fails while all three weapons are present
Verify that all three are the uncombined forms: Eight the Sparrow, Phiera Der Tuphello, and Tirajisú. A weapon that has already been transformed cannot necessarily count as the Union ingredient. Also check that the trigger is an evolution-capable Gem source and that the intended base weapon still has the required empty socket.

The result consumes more cards than expected
The published guide is internally inconsistent about whether item cards remain in the deck. Capture the current result from your build and rely on that behavior for future planning. Until the game’s own card text or Grim Grimoire clarifies the rule, do not promise that an ingredient will be available for a second recipe in the same run.
How current is this recipe list?
poncle’s official game page identifies Vampire Crawlers as a casual, turn-based deckbuilder with roguelite elements and promotes “world-ending combos,” but it does not publish a recipe catalog. Pro Game Guides is the detailed source for the 15 standard pairings and Phieraggi listed here; VampireCrawlers.wiki supplies fan-maintained socket and station guidance; and PC Gamer documents the Grim Grimoire’s tracking function. None of those sources, together with the accessible official page, proves that the table contains every evolution and Union in every current build.
After a substantial update, open the Grim Grimoire in the Library West Wing and recheck each planned combination. If the game’s entry differs from this table, follow the in-game recipe and treat the older pairing as historical guide data rather than a guaranteed current recipe.
