For Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, a practical way to build Verso is to follow a progression-based setup: prioritize Agility, then Luck; use Gaulteram in Act II and Chevalam in Act III; and make rank-building attacks and reliable parries or dodges the center of the combat loop. These are recommendations from an April 30, 2025 guide, not a verified best-in-slot setup for every patch or playstyle.
What changes between the Act II and Act III builds?
The build guide recommends different stat distributions, weapons, and skill sets by progression stage. Its figures are recommendations rather than experimentally established optimal values. The guide does not specify a patch-tested date for these configurations.

The April 30, 2025 Online Station guide recommends investing in Agility first for more frequent actions and weapon damage scaling, then Luck for critical-hit potential. Its Act III proposal concentrates the listed points in those two attributes, while its Act II distribution also assigns points to Vitality, Might, and Defence. Read the guide.
Which weapon should Verso use?
Act II: Gaulteram
The guide lists Gaulteram with 305 base power, Earth damage, and Agility B / Luck C scaling. It describes this as a forgiving option while learning Verso. Those weapon details are reported by that guide and are not independently confirmed by a second source here.

Act III: Chevalam
The guide lists Chevalam with 1,532 base power, Physical damage, and Agility B / Luck C scaling. It describes Chevalam as a high-damage choice that rewards avoiding damage with an uninterrupted no-damage streak. That reward makes the weapon a better fit for players comfortable with defensive timing than for anyone who expects to take frequent hits.
How should you use Verso’s skills?
The guide’s suggested Act II opening uses rank-building skills to reach S rank quickly, then shifts to damage and utility. It notes that some skill effects depend on using the skill at its appropriate rank.

- European/ UK version
- Use Quick Strike to advance Verso’s rank.
- Use Assault Zero to reach A rank.
- Use Light Holder to restore AP and reach S rank.
- Once at S rank, use Defiant Strike for damage and marking.
- Use Paradigm Shift for its resource utility and Perfect Recovery when survival is the priority.
For Act III, the guide’s listed set replaces Quick Strike, Light Holder, and Perfect Recovery with Blitz, Phantom Stars, and Ascending Assault. It also retains Assault Zero, Paradigm Shift, and Defiant Strike. Because the guide does not provide a separate Act III rotation, treat that list as a suggested skill selection rather than a tested sequence.
Which Pictos and Lumina does the guide recommend?
Mid-game example
The mid-game setup names Sweet Kill and First Strike as Pictos. Its Lumina list includes Augmented First Strike, Breaker, Critical Burn, Dead Energy II, Dodger, Energising Break, Energising Start II, Healing Parry, and Staggering Attack. The guide states a total cost of 42 Lumina points.

Late-game example
The late-game example names Augmented Counter I, Perilous Parry, and Confident Fighter as Pictos and gives a longer Lumina selection, with a stated total cost of 133 points. The guide frames the overall setup around speed, critical potential, damage, defence, and AP recovery; it also describes Confident Fighter and Glass Canon as damage options that depend on avoiding hits or parrying successfully. These configurations and point totals are the guide’s recommendations, not independently verified rankings. See the full setup and Lumina list.
What team works with Verso?
The guide proposes Lune as support, Verso as sub-DPS, and Maelle as main DPS. In this arrangement, Lune handles healing and status effects, Verso contributes damage and buffs, and Maelle supplies the main damage. The guide suggests Verso can take a more offensive role in Act III while Lune handles more support duties.
Rank #4
- Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is a ground-breaking turn-based RPG with unique real-time mechanics, making battles more immersive and addictive than ever.
- Explore a fantasy world inspired by Belle Époque France in which you battle devastating enemies.
This team leans on clean defence: the guide warns that it can be fragile. If you struggle to avoid attacks, the cited setup’s emphasis on rank maintenance and damage rewards for avoiding hits may be less comfortable than a more defensive or support-oriented approach.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. How do you choose a build for your playstyle?
- For a straightforward progression path: follow the guide’s Act II or Act III recommendations for your current stage, rather than treating the late-game setup as a starting point.
- For players confident with parries and dodges: the guide’s rank-focused loop and no-hit-oriented Chevalam description offer a more aggressive damage direction.
- For a more flexible role: community listings include Verso builds tagged for DPS, buffs, debuffs, tanking, support, hybrid play, breaking, bosses, and burn. These entries reflect varied community approaches, not a single agreed-on meta. Browse community Verso builds.
- To configure or share an alternative: a fan-made tool lets players select characters and build configurations. Open the Expedition 33 Builds tool.
The Online Station guide is dated April 30, 2025, and the community listings and fan-made tool do not establish patch-specific testing. Check current game balance before treating any listed setup as up to date or best-in-slot.
