vivoxplatform.dll is a game-local component from Vivox, an in-game voice and text-chat system. vivoxplatform.dll is not a Windows file, so the correct repair is usually to restore the game or application that installed it rather than copy a replacement into a Windows system folder.

The 60-second fix
Identify which game or application shows the error, then use its official launcher to verify or repair the installation.
- Steam: Open Library, right-click the game, select Properties, choose Installed Files, then select Verify integrity of game files.
- Epic Games: Open Library, select the three dots beside the game, choose Manage, then select Verify.
- Another launcher: Look for Repair, Verify, Scan, or Check files in the game’s settings.
Restart Windows after verification and launch the game again. If the launcher reports that files were replaced but the error remains, uninstall the game, restart Windows, and reinstall it from the official launcher or installer.
Do not download an isolated vivoxplatform.dll from a random DLL website. It may contain malware, belong to a different game release, use the wrong architecture, or fail because another Vivox or Microsoft runtime file is missing.
What vivoxplatform.dll does
Vivox provides voice and text-chat technology used by games and other interactive applications. The DLL commonly appears beside files such as:
vivoxsdk.dllvivoxsdk_x64.dllortp.dlllibsndfile-1.dllvivoxoal.dll
The exact files depend on the game. Examples of games whose installed files have included Vivox components include World of Tanks, PlanetSide 2, Star Wars Galaxies and H1Z1. No single game exclusively owns this filename.
The file normally belongs in the game’s installation directory. A legitimate path might look like:
C:GamesWoT (NA)vivoxplatform.dll
It should not normally be placed in:
C:WindowsSystem32
C:WindowsSysWOW64
The filename alone also does not establish whether the file is 32-bit or 64-bit. A 64-bit version of Windows can run a 32-bit game, and newer game installations may retain the vivoxplatform.dll basename while using 64-bit Vivox companion libraries.
Historical public records include these 32-bit builds:

Why the error started
The most likely causes are:
- A game update was interrupted.
- An antivirus product quarantined the file.
- A disk cleanup, mod, or manual deletion removed it.
- The installation contains mixed or damaged files.
- A companion Vivox DLL is missing.
- A Microsoft Visual C++ runtime is missing or damaged.
- The game is loading a file for the wrong architecture.
- A drive, permissions, or launcher write-access problem prevents restoration.
The wording matters. If Windows says the specified module could not be found, vivoxplatform.dll may exist while one of its dependencies does not.
Fix 1: Verify the owning game
Verification is the best first repair because it restores the correct DLL together with its matching Vivox libraries and game executable.
Steam
- Open Steam.
- Select Library.
- Right-click the affected game and choose Properties.
- Select Installed Files.
- Select Verify integrity of game files.
- Wait for the scan to complete.
- Restart Steam and launch the game.
If Steam repeatedly downloads the same file, check the game’s antivirus history, available disk space, drive health, and whether a mod or cleanup utility is removing files.
Epic Games
- Open the Epic Games Launcher.
- Select Library.
- Select the three dots beside the affected game.
- Choose Manage.
- Select Verify.
- Wait for the process to finish, then start the game again.
For another launcher, use its built-in repair or verification feature. If no repair option exists, use the launcher’s official uninstall and reinstall process.
If verification does not help
Uninstall the game, restart Windows, and reinstall it into a new folder. Back up saves and configuration files first. Do not copy only vivoxplatform.dll from another installation, because it may not match vivoxsdk.dll, ortp.dll, the executable, or the launcher’s manifest.
Run the launcher as administrator only when it cannot write to its own installation directory. Right-click the launcher shortcut, select Properties, open Compatibility, select Run this program as an administrator, and choose Apply.
Fix 2: Check antivirus quarantine
Windows Security can quarantine a genuine game file, although an alert should not be dismissed automatically.

- Open Windows Security.
- Select Virus & threat protection.
- Select Protection history.
- Look for an event involving the affected game directory or
vivoxplatform.dll. - Check the detected file’s path and details.
Restore or allow the file only when all of these are true:
- It is inside the expected game directory.
- The game came from its official launcher or installer.
- The file was restored by the launcher or matches the game’s verified installation.
- You have no other reason to suspect that the installation is compromised.
If the file came from an unofficial mod, archive, or download, remove it and reinstall the game from its official source instead. Protection History does not retain events indefinitely, so an older quarantine event may no longer be visible.
If the launcher keeps losing the file, check whether the antivirus product is scanning or removing the entire game directory. Do not create a broad exclusion for an untrusted folder.
Fix 3: Repair the Microsoft Visual C++ runtime only when indicated
A missing dependency may produce a vivoxplatform.dll error even when the Vivox file itself is present. Look for a more specific message naming one of these files:
Free tools Windows power users keep installed
One-click scans. No signup required.
MSVCP110.dllMSVCR110.dllvcruntime140.dll
You can also inspect the game’s installation documentation or support information for its required runtime.
Use Microsoft’s Latest Supported Visual C++ Redistributable Downloads page. Install the architecture matching the game:
vc_redist.x86.exefor a 32-bit gamevc_redist.x64.exefor a 64-bit game
On 64-bit Windows, installing both can be appropriate when you use both 32-bit and 64-bit applications. Installing only x64 does not satisfy a 32-bit game.
For older software that specifically requires Visual C++ 2012, use Microsoft’s Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2012 Update 4. Older runtimes remain separate from modern v14 runtimes.

- Mechanical Circular D-pad: Designed for quick reactions and accuracy in every direction, this D-pad elevates your gaming experience with superior responsiveness.
After installing or repairing the runtime, restart Windows and try the game again. If the error still names vivoxplatform.dll, return to launcher verification rather than repeatedly installing unrelated runtimes.
Fix 4: Check the application architecture
Do not assume that a 64-bit Windows installation means the game is 64-bit.
To check the executable:
- Open the game’s installation folder.
- Right-click the main game executable.
- Select Properties.
- Open the Details tab and review the available product information.
- Check the game’s official support documentation if the architecture is not shown.
Some newer layouts contain vivoxsdk_x64.dll while still using the basename vivoxplatform.dll. A 32-bit Vivox file copied into that installation may fail with a Bad Image or entry-point error. The complete set of files must come from the same game build.
Fix 5: Repair Windows components when several programs fail
vivoxplatform.dll is not a protected Windows system DLL, so System File Checker will not normally restore the game file. Use Windows component repair when several unrelated applications show DLL, Bad Image, or startup errors.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →- Open Start.
- Type Command Prompt.
- Right-click Command Prompt.
- Select Run as administrator.
- Run:
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
- Wait for DISM to finish.
- Run:
sfc /scannow
- Restart Windows.
Microsoft recommends running DISM before SFC. These commands repair Windows components, not a missing file from a specific game. Verify or reinstall the affected game afterward.
Repeatedly hunting for damaged system files and interpreting SFC output can be time-consuming. Outbyte PC Repair offers a free scan that shows what it identifies, while repair is performed by the full version; reinstalling the owning game remains the definitive fix for this application-local DLL.
Fix 6: Consider a recent system change
Use System Restore when the problem began immediately after a driver, utility, or other system-level installation and affects more than one application.
- Press Win+R.
- Type:
rstrui.exe
- Press Enter.
- Select a restore point created before the failure.
- Review the affected programs.
- Select Next, then Finish.
Also run a full scan in Windows Security if multiple applications behave abnormally or the file was unexpectedly replaced. Malware is not the normal explanation for a missing game DLL, but an unexplained file deletion deserves a security check.

Do not enable or disable random Windows Features to replace this DLL. DirectX, .NET, and Visual C++ are separate components. Install or repair them only when the game’s official requirements or error message identifies them.
Finding the correct driver version across multiple devices can involve checking each manufacturer manually. Outbyte Driver Updater provides a free scan showing the drivers it identifies, while installation is handled by the full version; driver repair is separate from the definitive game reinstall for vivoxplatform.dll.
Why regsvr32 is not the fix
Do not run:
regsvr32 vivoxplatform.dll
regsvr32 is intended for DLLs that expose registration entry points such as DllRegisterServer, commonly used by COM or ActiveX components. Vivox’s game-local runtime is not documented as a self-registering Windows component.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
The command may produce an entry-point error, and even a successful registration would not repair a missing vivoxsdk.dll, ortp.dll, Visual C++ runtime, or incorrect game installation. Verify or reinstall the owning program instead.
Final checklist for persistent errors
Before contacting the game developer, record:
- The game or application name.
- Its complete installation path.
- The full error text.
- Whether
vivoxplatform.dllexists in that folder. - Whether companion files such as
vivoxsdk.dllorortp.dllare present. - Whether the game is 32-bit or 64-bit.
- The launcher used and its verification result.
- Any antivirus quarantine event.
- Whether the problem affects other games or applications.
- Recent updates, mods, drive changes, or cleanup tools.
If verification repeatedly fails, check free disk space, drive health, folder permissions, launcher write access, and antivirus logs. A clean reinstall into a new folder is the appropriate next step. If that also fails, provide the game developer with the error text, launcher logs, installation path, Windows version, and architecture details.
FAQ
Is vivoxplatform.dll a Windows file?
No. It is an application-local Vivox component installed with a game or other program.
Can I download the DLL separately?
Do not use random DLL download sites. Obtain the file through the owning game’s official launcher, repair function, backup, or installer.
Should I put it in System32?
No. Put it only in the application folder selected by the official installer. Never copy it into System32 or SysWOW64.
Why does Windows say the module is missing when the file is visible?
The named file may be present while a dependency such as vivoxsdk.dll, ortp.dll, or a Visual C++ runtime is missing or incompatible.
Does installing x64 Visual C++ fix every case?
No. A 32-bit game needs the x86 runtime, and some older games require a separate legacy runtime. Install the architecture and version indicated by the game or error.
Will SFC restore the file?
Normally no. SFC repairs protected Windows components, while vivoxplatform.dll belongs to the game. Use launcher verification or reinstall the game.
