Its List input can advance through videos and restart at the beginning. XSplit Broadcaster documents looping media slideshows for BRB or sponsor screens, but the available official documentation does not establish that this is equivalent to an automatically advancing video playlist.
That distinction matters: repeating a playlist is basic automation, not a full schedule of programs by time of day. Neither application should be treated as a guarantee of uninterrupted operation; the result also depends on the computer, network, configuration and YouTube.
Which one fits a nonstop playlist stream?

These comparisons reflect vendor documentation, not hands-on testing. For a repeating queue of local videos, vMix has the clearer documented workflow. If you prefer XSplit, verify the exact playlist behavior in its free version or trial before relying on it for an unattended stream.
How vMix handles a looping list
In vMix, the List feature presents multiple video files as one input. With Auto Next enabled, playback advances to the next video; Loop restarts the list when it reaches the end. The vMix guide says the list need not load every video at once, which can reduce the resources used by a large collection. Do not confuse that repeat behavior with a broadcast rundown that changes automatically at specific times. vMix says it “does not support time of day scheduling.” Its Playlist and List features provide basic playback automation, not a full television-style program schedule. What XSplit documents—and what remains unconfirmed
XSplit Broadcaster is scene-based production software. Its product page describes a Media Slideshow that can loop multiple images or videos to decorate a BRB screen or display sponsors, and it presents YouTube as a supported streaming destination. That describes a looping media feature, but it does not confirm that a long list of videos will automatically play one after another and repeat indefinitely. XSplit’s guide also covers creating a scheduled stream event in YouTube Studio and starting it through Broadcaster. Scheduling the event is separate from automating the content lineup. If that distinction is central to your use case, test the exact sequence of videos, end-of-list behavior and recovery after a stop rather than assuming the slideshow feature acts like vMix List. Looping a playlist is not a 24/7 broadcast schedule
A single list that repeats can run continuously while the application and streaming setup remain operational. It does not, by itself, let you define a daily lineup such as a different show at 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. vMix explicitly excludes time-of-day scheduling; an XSplit scheduled YouTube event does not establish that kind of playlist scheduler either.

Operational continuity also depends on factors beyond playlist controls: the production machine must stay running, the network must remain available, and YouTube must accept the stream. The cited product documentation does not establish guaranteed uptime, automatic recovery after every failure, or protection from Windows updates, power loss or session limits.

Check the vendor’s vMix license options and reference system guides against your intended resolution, input count and computer. The price table alone does not establish which license or machine is sufficient for your setup.
XSplit Broadcaster
XSplit Support lists Windows 10 or 11 (64-bit) and 8 GB RAM as minimum requirements. It lists 500 kbps upload for the lowest streaming settings; that figure should not be treated as adequate for an HD stream. XSplit’s product page recommends at least 5 Mbps upload for HD quality. These figures describe different quality contexts, not a single universal bandwidth target. Check the XSplit system requirements and product page against your actual machine and connection.

The vendor distinguishes personal use on the free offering from commercial use on Premium; check the current XSplit Broadcaster plans for applicable terms and features before choosing.

- Confirm YouTube Live is enabled. XSplit’s setup guide says account or channel verification may be required and approval can take up to 24 hours. Check YouTube’s current requirements before planning a launch date; platform rules can change. Follow the XSplit YouTube Live setup guide for its authorization and output workflow.
- Build and test the video sequence. In vMix, create a List input, add the intended local videos, confirm Auto Next, and enable Loop if it should restart after the last item. Test the full end-of-list transition before treating the setup as ready. For XSplit, confirm in the software that the intended videos advance and repeat as required; the cited documentation does not establish that workflow as a playlist feature.
- Check the machine and connection for the chosen output. Compare the software’s current system guidance with your hardware and available upload bandwidth. A minimum listed for the lowest streaming settings is not an HD recommendation.
- Test failure and recovery behavior. Confirm what happens if the application closes, the computer restarts, the connection drops or YouTube ends the stream. The vendor material cited here does not promise automatic recovery for all such cases.
- Use media you have the right to stream. The fact that software can play a video or music file does not establish permission to broadcast it. Verify rights and applicable YouTube rules for every item, especially third-party music or video; this comparison does not provide legal clearance.
