Voodoo raised an estimated $200 million from Goldman Sachs in 2018, according to GamesBeat. The exact amount was not disclosed: Voodoo CEO Alexandre Yazdi declined to give a precise total. The financing was intended to support the company’s growth, hiring and plans for a mobile-game publishing hub.
How much did Goldman Sachs invest in Voodoo?
GamesBeat reported on May 29, 2018, that Voodoo raised an estimated $200 million from Goldman Sachs. The outlet also reported that CEO Alexandre Yazdi declined to disclose the precise amount, so $200 million should be treated as a contemporary estimate, not a confirmed figure disclosed by Voodoo. GamesBeat’s 2018 report was updated June 18, 2025.
Why did Goldman Sachs invest, and what did Voodoo plan to do with the money?
The stated plans were to continue growing Voodoo, expand hiring in Europe and the United States, add technology engineers, and develop a publishing hub for mobile-game developers. These were plans reported at the time; they do not establish that every initiative was completed.
Alexandre Flavier, identified by GamesBeat as an investor at Goldman Sachs, described the investment as a partnership during what he called Voodoo’s “critical acceleration phase.” He said: “We have been impressed by the vision, execution capabilities and innovation velocity of this management team. We are enthusiastic about partnering with Voodoo, under the leadership of Alexandre Yazdi, in this critical acceleration phase of a French tech champion.”

How did the investment fit Voodoo’s development?
Voodoo says it was founded in 2013. Its company history describes a publishing model built from 2016 to 2018 around frequent game launches, prototyping, testing and data collection; it identifies Paper.io as its first major hit. The company later describes a shift from hypercasual games toward hybrid-casual games and apps. Voodoo’s company history presents this as the company’s own account.
That evolution provides context for the 2018 financing: the reported publishing-hub plan was tied to working with mobile-game developers, while Voodoo’s later business broadened beyond hypercasual games. The available account does not establish that the 2018 investment alone caused that shift.
