Terry Cavanagh’s VVVVVV and Super Gravitron launched for Android through Google Play in June 2014. At launch, VVVVVV cost $2.99 and Super Gravitron was free. As of August 18, 2026, the U.S. Google Play listing for VVVVVV is still accessible at $2.49; the old Super Gravitron listing URL returns 404, so its current availability is unconfirmed.
What happened in June 2014?
Phandroid reported on June 12, 2014, that both games had arrived on Android via Google Play. The releases expanded Terry Cavanagh’s Android catalog, which already included Super Hexagon. The announcement was about two distinct games, not a bundle: VVVVVV was a paid release and Super Gravitron was offered free at the time. Read the June 2014 announcement.
What is VVVVVV?
VVVVVV is a 2D puzzle-platformer starring Captain Viridian. Instead of jumping, the player reverses gravity to move between floors and ceilings, navigating hazards and reaching stranded crew members. The game is deliberately demanding, but frequent checkpoints reduce the cost of a failed attempt. The current Google Play listing describes it as a 2010 indie platformer from the creator of Super Hexagon and identifies an IndieCade 2010 award.
That gravity mechanic is the game’s central appeal and its main test of precision: movement depends on choosing when to flip rather than timing a conventional jump. Readers considering the Android version should factor in touchscreen comfort as well as the game’s difficulty.

What is Super Gravitron?
Super Gravitron is a minimalist arcade survival challenge that grew out of a minigame at the end of VVVVVV. The goal is to dodge incoming flying blocks for as long as possible. Phandroid reported it as free at its 2014 launch; that historical price does not establish that it is free or downloadable today.

Super Gravitron: old listing no longer resolves
The original Super Gravitron Google Play URL returned 404 as of August 18, 2026: original Play Store URL. That confirms the old link is unavailable, not that the game has been permanently removed worldwide; a regional restriction, changed listing, or other storefront change cannot be ruled out. No replacement official listing was verified.

Precision matters in VVVVVV, but the 2014 release announcement does not specify the Android control scheme. Google Play reviewers have described the swipe controls as unusual, while another reviewer reports controller use. Those are individual user experiences, not an official compatibility guarantee. A controller may work on some setups, but universal support is not established.

The Google Play page identifies the game as Everyone-rated, with mild fantasy violence and mild language. It also presents the developer’s data-safety disclosure as saying no data is shared with third parties and no data is collected; that is a developer-provided disclosure, not an independent privacy audit. The listing does not establish a complete supported-device list or Android-version requirement, so check the current store page on the device and account you intend to use before buying.
