What was Walmart’s reported purchase limit?
PokéBeach reported on November 4, 2025, that an employee backend notice said customers could buy no more than five packs and/or boxes of trading cards per visit in stores and online. The limit was reported to take effect November 5, 2025. It was a cap on packs and boxes, not a stated limit of five individual cards.
The notice described the category as “Trading Cards,” so Pokémon was included but was not the only product covered. The report does not specify how Walmart counted mixed products, separate orders, or repeat visits.
Why did Walmart say it was introducing the limit?
PokéBeach attributed this explanation to Walmart: “We are introducing this limit to make sure all fans and collectors have a fair opportunity to enjoy Trading Cards. Our goal is popular items available to as many customers as possible and to maintain a safe and positive shopping environment for everyone.” The statement gives Walmart’s rationale; it does not show that the cap measurably improved access or safety.

Is the five-item limit still enforced everywhere?
The reported announcement establishes what Walmart planned to implement in November 2025, not whether every store and online listing still applies the same cap. Walmart’s general online quantity-limit terms reserve the right to limit quantities per person, household, or order. Those terms support Walmart’s discretion to set limits, but do not independently confirm that the specific five-pack-and/or-box rule remains active everywhere.
Before buying, check the quantity shown on the product listing or ask your local store whether a trading-card limit applies. The available reporting does not establish a single current rule for every location or listing.

What does Pokémon card availability look like?
In a May 26, 2026 update, Pokémon Support said high demand was affecting the availability of certain Pokémon TCG products and that the company was maximizing production and continuing reprints for participating retailers. The update provides context for scarcity, but does not give a particular restock date or show that Walmart’s reported limit improved supply.
Walmart’s trading-card category lists Pokémon products alongside other cards, as well as a supplies-and-accessories section. The reported purchase limit concerned trading-card packs and boxes; sleeves, binders, and other accessories are adjacent products, not the subject of that cap.
