What the game is
The announcement describes Waltz and Jam as a top-down puzzle action-adventure. The protagonist, Waltz, wakes with no memory in Downtown, a mysterious afterlife. His goal is to collect seven stamps so he can reach the Gate of Judgement. A guide named Low helps him along the way. His companion is Jam, a loyal spirit puppy who travels with him through seven handcrafted worlds inspired by the Seven Deadly Sins.
The described settings include chaotic restaurants, castles tangled in light and shadow, and deserts that stretch like seas.

Camera perspective is worth noting. The announcement says top-down, while Steam’s descriptors include “3D-platformer.” The two sources do not reconcile the wording, so readers should not assume a specific camera view until the release coverage confirms it.
How the gameplay works
The announced gameplay centers on exploring interconnected environments, solving environmental puzzles, discovering secrets and abilities, and facing enemies and bosses. Three systems define it.

Jam can change into forms that solve traversal problems. The announcement gives two examples: a Water Ball, used to cross gaps, and a Trampoline, used to reach higher places.

Waltz’s toys from legendary craftsmen
Waltz uses toys left behind by legendary craftsmen to open paths and handle enemies. The announcement describes them as gadget-like tools.
Seven realms with their own rules
The announcement says each of the seven realms introduces new environments, mechanics, enemies, and bosses. Because the sources do not describe the realms in order or in detail, the specifics of each one should be read as unrevealed.

The Steam listing states: “The developers recommend playing this game with a controller.” This recommendation comes from the store page, not from a named individual.
The listing shows full controller support, including Xbox controllers and DualShock and DualSense controllers. The PlayStation controller entries specify USB-only support. A controller is recommended, not required, and the listing does not say whether the same compatibility limits apply to the PS5 or Switch 2 versions.
