“Warcraft” covers several different products, so the right purchase depends on whether you want the classic real-time strategy games, World of Warcraft, or an upcoming release. As of October 4, 2026, the three remastered RTS games are offered together in the Warcraft Battle Chest and are also listed for PC Game Pass; older versions of the first two games are available on GOG; and World of Warcraft: Forever is announced for November 4, 2026, not yet released.
Which Warcraft games are available, and where?
Blizzard’s Warcraft RTS games and World of Warcraft are separate products with different storefronts and access rules. This table summarizes the availability and platform details stated in Blizzard’s product announcements and support pages; check the live regional listing before buying because offers and entitlements can change.
| Product | Availability and platform | Important distinction |
|---|---|---|
| Warcraft I: Remastered and Warcraft II: Remastered | Included in the Warcraft Battle Chest on Battle.net; also listed as PC Game Pass titles. | The remastered releases are distinct from the older GOG rereleases. |
| Warcraft III: Reforged | Available digitally through Blizzard’s Battle.net Shop and listed for PC Game Pass. | Blizzard says the original Reign of Chaos and The Frozen Throne versions are available as digital downloads with a Reforged purchase on Battle.net. |
| Warcraft: Orcs & Humans (GOG rerelease) | GOG; Windows and Mac, according to Blizzard. | Check the GOG listing for current operating-system requirements and language options. |
| Warcraft II Battle.net Edition (GOG rerelease) | GOG; Windows, according to Blizzard. | Includes classic and GOG-enhanced versions, which do not share the same online multiplayer compatibility. |
| World of Warcraft | Installed through the Battle.net desktop app; access depends on the mode and account entitlement. | Modern WoW has a limited free trial up to level 20; Classic modes generally require an active subscription or game time. |
| World of Warcraft: Forever | Announced for November 4, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. PST; Blizzard says access is included with a WoW Subscription or Game Time. | It is a future release as of October 4, 2026. Blizzard also offers optional upgrade packs. |
Blizzard’s announcements identify the Warcraft Battle Chest as a bundle of Warcraft I: Remastered, Warcraft II: Remastered and Warcraft III: Reforged. Existing owners of qualifying Battle.net purchases may receive a bundle discount, subject to the current store offer. Blizzard’s PC Game Pass announcement lists those same three PC games. It also describes a 20% discount on standalone titles for qualifying PC Game Pass or Game Pass Ultimate subscribers who link their Xbox and Battle.net accounts; the offer began June 26 and is subject to change. Confirm availability and terms in your region before relying on it.
Which edition or version should you choose?
Choose the Battle Chest for the three remastered RTS games
If you want all three remastered strategy games, compare the Battle Chest price and contents with buying only the title you want. The bundle discount for existing owners is conditional, so confirm eligibility and the final price in the Battle.net Shop. If you have PC Game Pass, check whether the titles are included in your current regional catalog and whether subscription access suits you better than a standalone purchase.

Choose the GOG rereleases for the older Warcraft I and II releases
Blizzard says the GOG rerelease of Warcraft: Orcs & Humans supports Windows and Mac, while Warcraft II Battle.net Edition supports Windows. For the GOG edition of Warcraft II, the classic version uses classic Battle.net matchmaking. Its enhanced version supports LAN and peer-to-peer multiplayer but cannot connect to classic Battle.net. GOG Galaxy is optional, according to Blizzard.
Check what a Warcraft III purchase includes
Blizzard says buying Warcraft III: Reforged on Battle.net provides digital downloads of the original Reign of Chaos and The Frozen Throne. Blizzard’s original launch announcement named Standard and Spoils of War editions, but edition names and listings can change; use the current shop page to verify what is offered and included.

Know the prerequisite for Forsaken Kingdom
Warcraft III Reforged: Forsaken Kingdom is described by Blizzard as an available campaign, a combo with Reforged, and part of the limited-time Warcraft Forever Collection, which Blizzard says is available through January 11, 2027. The campaign requires Warcraft III: Reforged. Blizzard says the product requires a Battle.net account, the Battle.net desktop app and an internet connection. Compare the add-on and combo against what your account already owns before checkout.
Do you need a subscription to play World of Warcraft Classic?
In general, yes: Blizzard’s current modes and versions guidance says WoW modes require an active subscription unless otherwise noted. Its installation instructions distinguish the limited Modern WoW trial, which is free to play up to level 20, from WoW Classic versions or select modes that require game time or a subscription. The active modes Blizzard lists include Classic Era, Season of Discovery, Anniversary Classic and Mists of Pandaria Classic; access and availability may vary by mode and account.

How to avoid buying the wrong Warcraft product
- Identify the exact game. Decide whether you mean a remastered RTS, a GOG rerelease, Warcraft III: Reforged, or a particular WoW mode.
- Confirm platform and storefront. Blizzard directs buyers to the Battle.net Shop for its listed digital products and to GOG for the Warcraft: Orcs & Humans and Warcraft II Battle.net Edition rereleases. Check Windows or Mac support on the specific listing.
- Compare edition contents and multiplayer. Verify included games, add-ons and original-version downloads. For GOG’s Warcraft II, choose the version whose multiplayer compatibility matches the people you want to play with.
- Check region, account and access terms at checkout. Confirm regional availability, any Battle.net or GOG account requirements, subscription or game-time needs, refund terms, and whether access continues only while a subscription is active.
- Review the final price and seller before paying. Blizzard’s and GOG’s official listings reduce the chance of confusing editions or buying an unverified key. The official information cited here does not establish a complete authentication policy for every third-party seller, so do not assume a seller is authorized without checking separately.
What is known about the physical Collector’s Edition?
Blizzard says the World of Warcraft: Forever Collector’s Edition is available through the Blizzard Gear Store while supplies last. The official information cited here does not establish its price or stock on Amazon, so verify the exact listing and seller there before purchase.
