Warcraft III: Reforged was released on January 28, 2020; a community-maintained CrackWatch list dates a reported crack attributed to Blizzless to July 23, 2022. That is roughly two years and six months later, so “two years” is a rounded description—not an exact interval. The crack date and attribution are community reports, not a confirmation from Blizzard or independent technical verification.
When was Warcraft III: Reforged reportedly cracked?
Blizzard announced that Warcraft III: Reforged would be available at 3 p.m. PST on January 28, 2020. Its announcement described the game as a recreation of Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos and The Frozen Throne. Blizzard’s release announcement provides the official date.

The CrackWatch community-maintained list records July 23, 2022 as the crack date and credits Blizzless. A July 2022 discussion on r/CrackWatch also discussed a crack associated with Blizzless. These records support saying that a crack was reported in the community, not that Blizzard confirmed it or that the claim was independently validated.

From January 28, 2020 to July 23, 2022 is about two years and six months. The headline’s “two years after release” is therefore a loose rounding of the reported interval. It should not be read as a precise two-year anniversary or as an official publisher announcement.

What the available record does—and does not—show
The dates and attribution are documented in community-maintained sources, but the available record does not establish the crack’s method, which game build it supported, how much of the game worked, or whether its operation was independently tested. Nor does it establish the claim’s legal status. Those technical details remain unverified here.
Blizzard’s official version 1.33 patch notes are dated August 10, 2022 and describe Ranked Play, seasons, profiles, and leaderboards. The notes are useful context for the game’s update timeline, but they do not connect that update to the reported crack.

A later update is a separate event
In September 2026, PC Gamer reported that Warcraft III: Reforged’s 3.0 update added an always-online requirement, including for single-player, and removed LAN functionality. The same report said Blizzard’s legacy client still supports offline and LAN play. This is later context, not evidence about the July 2022 crack report; see PC Gamer’s report on the 3.0 changes.
