The fastest reliable route to Driver levels in WARDOGS is logistics, not random vehicle kills. Start using the URAL as soon as it unlocks, move supply pallets from HQ to a friendly FOB, transport teammates toward active objectives, and keep the spawn APC useful without exposing it. Run those jobs around the active Control Zone and its Hot Zone, where your faction receives double control credit and extra cash. WARDOGS has six separate role tracks—Assault, Medic, Support, Recon, Driver and Pilot—plus an overall WARDOG/Career level, so Driver XP cannot be transferred to another role.
Season 2 changed the cumulative XP curve and the tank unlock information has shifted between updates. Bulkhead’s October 15, 2026 patch fixed Driver progression and an exploit that exposed tanks too early. Use the current in-game unlock screen for the final requirement rather than an old guide.

How WARDOGS progression works
WARDOGS separates progression into six role tracks: Assault, Medic, Support, Recon, Driver and Pilot. Each track records its own XP. There is also an overall WARDOG/Career level, but a high Driver level does not substitute for the XP required by Medic, Assault or any other role. Choose the role whose equipment you want before you spend a match performing unrelated actions.
The game does not publish a dependable current table that converts every action into a fixed XP amount. A supply delivery, revive, spot, build, transport or vehicle kill can all be meaningful role activity, but the available documentation does not establish an authoritative per-action payout or a ranking such as “one crate always beats one passenger.” Build your routine around repeatable objectives and survival instead of chasing an unverified number.

The table describes the type of work associated with each track, not a guaranteed XP-per-action schedule. If a match gives you no suitable Driver route, switching to another role may be sensible, but the XP earned remains attached to the role you were playing.
Season 2 cumulative XP milestones
Bulkhead’s Season 2 progression figures are cumulative totals for reaching a role level. They are not the amount awarded by a single match, delivery or kill. The published milestones are:

Season 2 specifically targeted the middle of the climb. Bulkhead said, “Levels 10 to 20 were a slow grind, and many players stalled out before unlocking the gear that defines each role. Reaching level 20 now takes less than half the playtime it did in Season 1.” That is a statement about the revised progression curve, not a promise that every player reaches level 20 in the same number of matches; match length, survival, successful actions and role choice still change the pace.
Where tanks sit on the Driver track
Tank requirements have changed in the public information around Season 2, which is why old screenshots and guides can disagree. The Season 2 table places the SPH-2 at Driver level 31. A September Driver guide lists the L2A6 at level 35. On October 15, Bulkhead announced a Driver-progression fix and corrected an exploit that could expose tanks before their intended level. Because the unlock list has changed, the current in-game unlock screen is the authority for your edition and patch.

How to answer “How much XP do I need for the first tank?”
There is no single safe answer without knowing which tank your current unlock screen calls first. The published Season 2 milestones show the role totals around the late Driver climb, but they do not establish that every player has the same first tank, nor do they replace the level displayed in your client. Check the Driver track before planning a grind, note the exact level shown for the vehicle, and then use the cumulative milestone table to understand the scale of the target.
The URAL is a useful early logistics vehicle rather than a shortcut to a tank. The dated Driver guide places it at Driver level 3. Begin the delivery loop as soon as it becomes available so that early Driver matches build habits and route knowledge instead of waiting for a later combat vehicle.
The best current Driver XP loop
The most strongly supported Driver routine is a logistics circuit. It gives you several legitimate Driver activities in one match and can be repeated without depending on a lucky tank engagement.

- Reach the Driver track and unlock the URAL. The September guide lists the URAL at Driver level 3. Confirm the level in your current client because balance and progression updates can change unlock displays.
- Load supply pallets at HQ. Collect the supplies rather than driving empty toward the front. Treat the loading area as a staging point and keep an escape route open.
- Coordinate with builders at a friendly FOB. Ask where a delivery will be used, then take the pallets to that FOB. A drop that is consumed by construction or resupply is more useful to the team than a crate abandoned in a safe corner.
- Transport players toward an active objective. Pick up teammates who are actually moving toward the current fight. A full vehicle that arrives alive creates more value than repeated empty trips.
- Keep the spawn APC useful and safe. Position it where the faction can deploy without losing it immediately, but do not park it in an obvious enemy approach. Relocate it when the frontline moves.
- Repeat the shortest safe route. Stay near the active Control Zone, use cover and avoid turning a predictable supply road into a free ambush. A surviving route supports more actions over the match than a spectacular one-way run.
These actions are documented as Driver activities, but no authoritative current source gives each one a fixed XP payout. The objective is therefore consistency: complete useful deliveries, carry passengers, preserve the APC and take safe vehicle actions whenever the route permits.

Why combat should be secondary for Driver grinding
Vehicle kills and turret kills can be worthwhile opportunities, yet their value is less predictable than a functioning logistics route. Do not abandon a high-value pallet run solely to chase a kill whose XP amount is not documented. If an enemy vehicle blocks your route and you can engage safely, take the shot; if the fight would strand the URAL, lose the supplies and expose the APC, continue the delivery or withdraw.
How the Control Zone and Hot Zone affect your plan
Current documentation describes one main mode: a three-faction Control Zone, also presented as a King of the Hill-style battle. The win condition is described as 100 Match Points. The Hot Zone is a roaming sub-zone inside that match, not a separately documented XP mode.
Control Zone fundamentals for role progression
Move logistics toward whichever objective is active rather than following a memorized route from an earlier match. A delivery to a quiet rear position may be safe, but it does not help the faction contest the current battle. The Driver’s value comes from connecting the rear area to the fight: supplies to the FOB, passengers to the objective and a usable spawn point close enough to sustain pressure.

Players inside the Hot Zone count twice toward faction control and receive extra cash. That cash helps fund repeated vehicle use and loadouts, making Hot Zone rotations attractive when your faction can enter and leave safely. The available material does not document the Hot Zone as a separate Driver-XP multiplier. Treat its benefit as control influence and money, while your Driver XP still comes from the role actions you perform.

A practical rotation is to collect supplies, deliver them to a FOB supporting the active area, move players toward the Hot Zone when they request transport, then reposition the spawn APC after the frontline shifts. If the Hot Zone becomes a vehicle trap, preserve the truck and APC; the double control credit does not justify donating your logistics assets.
Driver progression by match phase
Opening minutes
- Check the current Driver unlocks and confirm which vehicle is available before leaving spawn.
- Find out where the first active objective and friendly FOB are located.
- Load a supply pallet or collect passengers instead of driving without a job.
- Ask builders which supplies they can use immediately.
Mid-match
- Run the shortest route that still reaches a useful FOB or objective.
- Use the Hot Zone’s extra cash opportunity when your faction can contest it without losing the vehicle.
- Keep the spawn APC behind the immediate assault line and move it as the control area changes.
- Make combat decisions based on route safety; a kill is optional, while a surviving logistics asset enables another action.
Endgame
- Prioritize the faction’s current control need over a distant delivery with little time left.
- Transport players into the decisive objective only when the pickup and exit route are plausible.
- Deliver remaining supplies if builders can deploy them before the match ends.
- Do not throw away a vehicle for a speculative XP event during the final push.
How to level the other role tracks
There is no documented universal “best mode” bonus for Assault, Medic, Support, Recon or Pilot. Because the current game structure is one Control Zone match with a Hot Zone layer, the efficient choice is to perform the role’s defining action where teammates can benefit from it.
Assault
Stay with the active fight and take combat opportunities that contribute to the objective. Assault XP is tied to Assault activity, not to Driver deliveries completed in the same match. Avoid leaving the contested area merely to hunt isolated targets if doing so removes pressure from the control point.

Follow the squad’s push, remain close enough to reach downed players and heal between engagements. Reviving in a position that is about to be overrun can cost the entire squad, so use cover and wait for a safe window rather than treating every down as an automatic sprint.

Support
Build where structures will be used, keep supplies moving and engage enemy vehicles when the opportunity is favorable. Coordination with the Driver is especially valuable: tell the driver which FOB or construction site needs the next load before the truck leaves HQ.
Recon
Gather information from positions that overlook the active objective and pass useful sightings to teammates. Recon activity is most effective when it changes where the squad moves or which threat it engages; wandering away from the Control Zone for isolated observations can reduce your practical impact.
Pilot
Pilot is also described as logistics-oriented, but current material does not provide a verified action-to-XP table or a complete aircraft unlock list. Use the same principle as Driver: support the active objective, keep the aircraft alive and choose repeatable transport or supply work over a risky stunt performed only because it might award XP.

What changed in Season 2 and the October 15 patch
Season 2 reduced the severe mid-level wall. Bulkhead removed a Blue-team XP and cash bonus, so older advice based on that bonus no longer describes the current balance. The published milestone totals are the Season 2 figures, not Season 1 values copied into a new table.
On October 15, 2026, Bulkhead announced fixes for Driver progression and an exploit that let players reach tanks too early. PC Gamer reported that clear abuse could result in 24-hour bans and cash/XP wipes. Do not treat an early tank appearance as proof that a route is efficient or intended. If your unlock display conflicts with an older guide, update the game and read the current role screen before continuing.
A decision framework for choosing your next action
When several tasks are available, use this order:
- Can the action directly support the active objective? If yes, prefer it over a distant or purely personal detour.
- Is the action repeatable with the vehicle, supplies and teammates you have? A safe delivery or passenger run is usually more valuable than a one-time gamble.
- Will the action preserve your asset? Keep the URAL and spawn APC alive when possible; losing them creates downtime and removes future Driver opportunities.
- Does the action belong to the role you are leveling? Driver work raises Driver progression; it cannot be reassigned to Medic, Assault or another track.
- Is the apparent shortcut legitimate? Avoid exploits, early-unlock bugs and any route that depends on manipulating progression.
Practical checklist before queuing for Driver levels
- Check the current Driver unlock screen, especially if you are targeting a tank shown differently in a September guide or Season 2 table.
- Plan one HQ-to-FOB supply route and one passenger route toward the active Control Zone.
- Tell builders what you are carrying and ask where it should be delivered.
- Keep the spawn APC useful, concealed and movable.
- Use the Hot Zone for its double control contribution and extra cash when the risk is acceptable, not because it is a documented XP multiplier.
- Take safe vehicle combat opportunities, but do not replace a functioning logistics loop with uncertain kill hunting.
- Leave exploit-based progression alone; the October 15 fixes and reported sanctions make the shortcut a poor trade.
- After each match, verify that the role track you intended to level actually received the progress.
WARDOGS’ own description emphasizes that there is “no one way to play, earn and progress” and that players can approach the Control Zone in many ways. For Driver progression, that freedom works best when it is organized around useful logistics: move people, move supplies, preserve the spawn network and adapt the route to the live objective. The current evidence supports that method; it does not support a precise universal XP-per-action ranking.
