1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesThe recommended Warframe story route is Awakening → Vor’s Prize → Saya’s Vigil → Once Awake → Heart of Deimos → The Archwing → Natah → The Second Dream → Rising Tide → The War Within → Chains of Harrow → Apostasy Prologue → The Sacrifice → Prelude to War → The New War → Whispers in the Walls → The Lotus Eaters → The Hex. Play The Duviri Paradox when it becomes available, but finish it before starting The Hex. This is the narrative order, not a promise that each quest unlocks immediately after the one before it.
Warframe main story quest order
Digital Extremes presents the story in four arcs in its official Quest Guide. Its Update 35 notes give a practical main-quest route through Whispers in the Walls; the current guide continues that sequence with The Lotus Eaters and The Hex.
- Awakening
- Vor’s Prize
- Saya’s Vigil
- Once Awake
- Heart of Deimos
- The Archwing
- Natah
- The Second Dream
- Rising Tide
- The War Within
- Chains of Harrow
- Apostasy Prologue
- The Sacrifice
- Prelude to War
- The New War
- Whispers in the Walls
- The Lotus Eaters
- The Hex
How the four story arcs fit together
The Quest Guide groups the displayed story into these arcs. The arc labels help orient you, while the numbered route above gives the practical quest sequence.
- Arc 1 – Awakening: Vor’s Prize and The Archwing.
- Arc 2 – The War Within Saga: Natah through The Sacrifice.
- Arc 3 – The New War Saga: Prelude to War through The Duviri Paradox.
- Arc 4 – The Void War Saga: Whispers in the Walls, The Lotus Eaters, and The Hex.
Quest order is not the same as unlock order
Junctions and quest-specific conditions determine when a quest becomes available. Treat the route as narrative guidance, then use the Codex and your Junction requirements to see what you can start next.
#1 Best Overall
| Quest or milestone | Access condition or role |
|---|---|
| The Second Dream | Available after unlocking Neptune. |
| Rising Tide | Follows The Second Dream in the main route; requires crafting and installing the Railjack Cephalon. |
| The War Within | Can be started after reaching Sedna. |
| Whispers in the Walls | Requires both Heart of Deimos and The New War. |
| The Hex | Requires all Main Quests through The Lotus Eaters, as well as The Duviri Paradox. |
Digital Extremes’ Update 35 notes explain a major progression change: “Our primary goal is to decouple Mastery Rank from the Main Quest experience, which includes Junctions.” Main Story Quests no longer have Mastery Rank requirements under that change, although some side quests and systems can still have their own requirements. The same notes used “120 real world hours” as historical context for how Mastery Rank timers could delay access to The War Within before the change; that figure is not a current estimate of how long this route takes.
Where to play The Duviri Paradox
The Duviri Paradox is an early-accessible detour rather than a prerequisite for most of the main story. Digital Extremes says it becomes accessible after unlocking Uranus Junction and is not required for another Main Story Quest until The Hex. Update 38 made it a Main Quest because it is needed for The Hex. You can play it when it opens, but complete it before attempting The Hex.
Rank #2
Prepare for the quests that need more than a planet unlock
- Rising Tide: Plan for the Railjack Cephalon construction and installation step before expecting to progress through the quest.
- The New War: Prepare a Necramech as well as the required story progress. The quest route alone does not cover this equipment requirement.
What is currently the last quest?
As of October 8, 2026, The Hex is the final quest shown in Digital Extremes’ Quest Guide. Digital Extremes has announced that the Tau Prologue will be added to the Codex on October 15, 2026, with The Hex and The Old Peace required for access. That announcement is a scheduled future addition as of October 8, not confirmation that the Tau Prologue is already playable. Check the official Quest Guide and Codex after October 15 for the live sequence.
