The Techmarine and its exclusive Omnissian Axe are already in Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2; the Power Axe is a separate weapon available to Tactical and in heroic variants. The game’s Year 3 began with Anniversary Update II on October 1, 2026. The next named class on the official roadmap is the Apothecary, planned for Patch 17 in Q1 2027. Future roadmap dates and features remain subject to change.
What is live in Space Marine 2 now?

What does the Techmarine add?
The Techmarine is playable across PvE and PvP, including Operations, Stratagems, Siege, and Eternal War. Focus describes the class as built around crowd control and area defense, with automated weapons mounted on its armor. Its 25 perks allow players to shape the class’s build.
The class’s exclusive Omnissian Axe features sweeping melee attacks. It is not the same weapon as the Power Axe: the Omnissian Axe belongs to the Techmarine’s signature kit, while the Power Axe has its own class access and heroic variants.

How does the Power Axe work, and how is it different?
The September 2026 community update says Tactical can equip the Power Axe, One-Handed Thunder Hammer, or Power Sword in place of its primary weapon. Anniversary Update II also added a heroic Power Axe variant to the Armoury. That general heroic Power Axe addition should not be confused with the Techmarine’s exclusive Omnissian Axe.
Frost Axe — Balance
The September update describes Frost Axe — Balance as a heroic Power Axe variant associated with Patch 15. Executions grant Power Charges; those charges empower the next Whirl Slash, increasing its damage and radius while slowing enemies it hits. For the complete official class and weapon details, see the September 2026 Community Update.

What is planned for Year 3?
The September 2026 community update places the Apothecary in Patch 17, planned for Q1 2027. Anniversary Update II describes Year 3 as bringing further weapons and Operations, but the October announcement does not establish that every future item or timing is final. Check the Year 3 announcement and later official updates for changes before treating planned content as released.
Are the updates free, or do they require a Season Pass?
Gameplay additions and cosmetic DLC are distinct. Focus described the Techmarine gameplay update as free for PS5, Xbox Series, and PC players. Its Year 2 roadmap set out free gameplay content separately from Season Pass II cosmetic packs; Warhammer Community also noted that cosmetic packs could be purchased individually. Current cosmetic contents and pricing can vary by storefront, so check the relevant platform store for up-to-date details.
For the original roadmap’s coverage, see Warhammer Community’s Year 2 roadmap article. Its account of the later update is in Warhammer Community’s Anniversary Update II article.
