Yes. Skydance completed its acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) on October 6, 2026, and WBD survived the merger as a wholly owned Skydance subsidiary. Warner Bros. Games is therefore within Skydance’s corporate group. The company’s closing announcement listed many parts of the combined business but did not specifically name Warner Bros. Games or a games division. That omission is not evidence that the games business was excluded.
Why Warner Bros. Games belongs to Skydance
The decisive fact is the legal outcome of the acquisition, not whether a particular business appeared in a press-release summary. WBD’s October 6, 2026 SEC Form 8-K says Skydance completed the merger and WBD became a wholly owned subsidiary of Skydance. The filing also records a change in control.

Because Warner Bros. Games is part of WBD, it is within the acquired corporate group. The filing establishes the parent-company ownership result; it does not separately specify Warner Bros. Games’ post-close legal entity or internal reporting line.
What Skydance’s announcement included—and left unnamed
Skydance’s October 6 closing announcement describes a combined company spanning film studios, streaming services, television assets, news networks, live sports, a programming library, brands and franchises. It does not specifically mention Warner Bros. Games or identify a games division in its portfolio summary.

That is a limited observation about the wording of this release. A summary that does not name a business is not a statement that the business was carved out or excluded from a transaction. WBD’s wholly owned subsidiary status is the basis for the ownership conclusion.

- Merger consideration: Skydance said WBD shareholders received $31.01666668 in cash per share. WBD’s SEC filing describes aggregate merger consideration of approximately $78 billion.
- Synergies: Skydance set a target of at least $6 billion in run-rate synergies within three years. The release cautions that anticipated benefits may not be realized or could take longer.
- Film output: The company stated a commitment to release at least 30 theatrical films annually; that is a commitment, not a demonstrated post-close output level.
- Television output: The release cited more than 180 television shows and series.
- Financial scale and outlook: Skydance described the combined company as having nearly $70 billion in revenue and targeted more than $10 billion in free cash flow by 2030. These are company-reported and projected figures, not independently verified outcomes.
Skydance Chairman and CEO David Ellison called the closing “a historic day, not just for Skydance but for our entire industry.” The Associated Press’s October 7, 2026 coverage offers independent context on how the new company presented its combined franchise portfolio; the SEC filing remains the primary source for the legal ownership change.
