A January 2026 report said the remake was planned to go gold in early February and launch digitally on March 19, but that was an attributed report about a plan—not Ubisoft confirmation that the game was complete. Ubisoft now lists the game as released on July 9, 2026.
What did the report say about the remake’s schedule?
In January 2026, GamingBolt relayed comments from reporter Tom Henderson that the original plan was for a digital-only launch on March 19, 2026, and that the game was planned to “go gold in the first week of Feb.” In game development, going gold generally refers to a build being prepared for release, but the reported milestone does not establish that the game had finished development or was nearly bug-free. GamingBolt’s January report attributed the schedule to Henderson.

Ubisoft did not confirm that March date or the February milestone in the official sources available here. The report’s tentative suggestion that the game might be delayed to 2027 was overtaken by events: Ubisoft’s product page says Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced released on July 9, 2026. Ubisoft’s official product page is the source for the current release status.
Why was the Black Flag remake delayed?
Ubisoft has not stated a reason for changing the earlier reported schedule in the official sources cited here. Henderson speculated in the January report that the game might have been “full of bugs,” while also saying he did not know why the schedule had changed. That was speculation, not a verified production issue or Ubisoft’s explanation; it should not be treated as the cause of the change. The report preserves the attribution and uncertainty.
