Was the July 2025 Nintendo Direct Leak Real? What Nintendo Announced

The predicted timing broadly matched Nintendo’s July 31, 2025 Partner Showcase, but the event focused on third-party games for Switch 2 and Switch—not a general first-party Direct.

Mostly on timing: Nintendo announced a presentation for July 31, 2025, the week after reports predicted a show. But it was a Partner Showcase, not a general Nintendo Direct focused on Nintendo-developed games. Nintendo said it would cover third-party games for Switch 2 and the original Switch, with a runtime of roughly 25 minutes.

Was the July 2025 Nintendo Direct leak real?

Coverage before the announcement described a presentation the following week as a rumor or insider prediction, not as an official Nintendo announcement. Nintendo later confirmed a July 31 showcase, so the broad timing proved accurate. That confirmation does not establish that every detail circulating in the earlier reports was correct. The pre-announcement rumor coverage should therefore be treated as prediction, not a confirmed leak from Nintendo.

What did Nintendo announce?

Contemporaneous coverage reported that Nintendo announced a Partner Showcase for July 31, 2025. GameSpot described its planned runtime as roughly 25 minutes and said it would include “information on upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch games” from third-party publishers and developers. GameSpot’s report on the announcement

Why the Partner Showcase format matters

A Partner Showcase is not the same thing as a general Nintendo Direct. The announced scope was third-party games for both Switch 2 and the original Switch. The event should not be taken as confirmation that Nintendo would show its own first-party games, even if viewers were hoping for news about them.
