Is Watch Dogs: Legion getting a Director’s Cut?
According to Insider Gaming’s October 5, 2026 report, Ubisoft plans to release a Director’s Cut of Watch Dogs: Legion. That remains an attributed report, not an Ubisoft announcement. The official Ubisoft sources available here confirm the original game and its editions, but do not confirm a Director’s Cut.

#1 Best Overall
- Open-world London, explore a massive urban open-world where you can visit London's many famous landmarks
- play as anyone, experience a never-seen-before gameplay Innovation. Anyone you see can join your team complete with a unique backstory, personality, and skill set
- weaponise London's Tech infrastructure. Hijack armed combat drones, deploy stealthy spider-bots, covertly take down enemies using an augmented reality cloak, and much more
- bring your team online and join forces with up to three friends and explore the world together or take on entirely new co-op missions
What is confirmed about the existing game?
Ubisoft lists Watch Dogs: Legion as an action-adventure game released October 28, 2020, for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. Its core premise is building a resistance from people encountered in a near-future London, using hacking, infiltration, and combat.
The defining “Play as Anyone” system lets players recruit London residents as DedSec operatives and play as them, rather than following only one central protagonist. Ubisoft’s E3 announcement described operatives with persistent schedules, backstories, and different skills. That is background on the original game, not evidence of what a Director’s Cut might change.

How the reported edition compares with existing versions
| Version | Status and platforms | What is established |
|---|---|---|
| Existing PS4 version | Released; PlayStation 4 | Ubisoft says PS4 purchasers could upgrade to the PS5 version at no additional cost under the original upgrade offer. That historical policy does not establish an upgrade path for a rumored rerelease. |
| Existing PS5 version | Released; PlayStation 5 | Ubisoft lists the PS5 game and documented a physical PS5 release on November 24, 2020. |
| Reported Director’s Cut | Unconfirmed; platforms and format not stated | Insider Gaming reported a first-half-2027 plan. Contents, price, editions, and any upgrade policy are not established. |
Ubisoft’s historical next-generation announcement gives the PS5 physical launch date and original PS4-to-PS5 upgrade terms. Neither fact means a new edition has been listed or that the old upgrade offer would apply to it.
What might the Director’s Cut include?
That has not been established. The report does not provide verified additions, and speculation about possible bonus missions, features, or improvements should not be mistaken for confirmed contents. Ubisoft’s 2020 launch announcement covers the original launch editions and Collector’s Edition, not a Director’s Cut.

- Play As Anyone - Recruit anyone from the entire population of London into your resistance: from an MI6 agent to a tough bareknuckle fighter, or an inconspicuous old lady… Anyone you see can join your team and has a unique backstory, personality, and skillset.
- Team Up with Friends - Bring your team online with up to three friends as you freely explore the world together or take on entirely new co-op missions and challenging end-game content. Enjoy free regular updates adding new online modes, rewards, and themed events.
- Open World London - Explore a massive urban open world and visit London’s many famous landmarks – including Trafalgar Square, Big Ben, or the London Eye – and engage in side activities like bareknuckle boxing, freestyle football, illegal courier contracts or street art.
For now, the practical distinction is simple: the original PS4 and PS5 versions are documented products; the Director’s Cut is a reported future release whose specifications and availability remain unknown.
