To complete the Water Temple in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, activate its four faucets, then return to the central platform and interact with the green portal to fight Mucktorok. You can activate the faucets in any order. Sidon’s water ability is essential: use it to clear sludge, cross the flame barrier safely, and turn each faucet wheel.
Before you start
This walkthrough covers the Water Temple during the main quest “Sidon of the Zora.” It assumes Sidon is available. The temple’s low gravity makes gliding and aerial attacks useful, but the puzzles rely chiefly on Ultrahand, Recall, Hover Stones, water bubbles, and Sidon’s ability.
The temple’s four faucet puzzles can be completed in any order. The route below groups them by location to make the solutions easy to follow.
Activate the first faucet: orb and floodgate
- On the west side, clear sludge from the water-bubble maker so it can produce bubbles.
- Use a bubble to carry the orb upward, then follow it to the higher area.
- Place the orb in the socket in the pool.
- Attach an activated Hover Stone to the floodgate. Lift the gate with Ultrahand, then let the Hover Stone hold it open while the pool drains.
- When the orb drops into its socket and opens the wheel room, use Sidon’s water ability on the wheel to activate the faucet.
Activate the lower faucet beneath the central platform
- Glide down to the level beneath the central platform.
- Use Sidon’s water bubble to protect Link while walking through the flames.
- In the room beyond, use a Hover Stone on the floor switch to manage the flame barrier.
- Move the orb across the spike gap and attach it to a Hover Stone so you can carry it back to the high ledge.
- Place the orb in the wall socket to open the wheel room, then activate the wheel with Sidon’s water ability.
Activate the northeast faucet
- From the central area, make a climbable route with water and swim up the waterfall to reach the northeast platform.
- Use Recall on a descending water globule, then ride it upward to the higher ledge.
- Attach stone platforms to opposite sides of the waterwheel. Adjust one so falling water keeps the wheel spinning.
- Follow the electrical line. Place a water globule in the gap to conduct power and open the gate.
- Use Sidon’s water ability on the exposed faucet wheel.
Activate the east faucet
- Reach the eastern platform and wash the sludge from the opening in the rotating tower.
- When the opening faces Link, hit the exposed orange target inside. The important sequence is to clear the sludge, expose the target, and strike it while it is in view.
- Go through the opened gate and use Sidon’s water ability on the final wheel.
Start the Mucktorok fight
After all four faucets are active, return to the central platform and interact with the green portal.

How to beat Mucktorok
Bring arrows and a water source such as Splash Fruit or Chuchu Jelly. Sidon can also clear sludge and provide protection; the amount of extra water you need depends on how you fight.
Phase one
- When Mucktorok moves around in its sludge-covered shark form, hit it with water to expose its octopus form.
- When it runs away, use an arrow to interrupt it.
- Close in and attack with a strong weapon while it is exposed.
The arena’s low gravity helps with high jumps and slow-motion aiming from the air.

Phase two
Mucktorok spreads sludge across more of the arena and adds an attack that sends sludge into the air. Keep enough clear ground to move, then repeat the water-and-arrow opening. Keese Eyeballs can help arrows track the fast-moving target.
Defeating Mucktorok awards a Heart Container. After the follow-up conversation, Sidon grants the Vow of Sidon, Sage of Water.
