They were not official character reveals: NetEase’s published roster for the beta did not name either as playable, and the available reporting does not establish what the details were intended to mean.
What players reported
A 2024 report by TheBadGamer described in-game discoveries that might point to Deadpool and Spider-Gwen. The report supports that players interpreted environmental details as possible Easter eggs; it does not amount to confirmation from NetEase that the details were deliberate teasers.
The exact objects and their intended meaning are not established by the available reporting. It is therefore more accurate to call them reported possible references than confirmed clues or character announcements.
What NetEase’s beta roster says
NetEase’s June 26, 2024 closed-beta announcement gave the test schedule and an available-character list. Neither Deadpool nor Spider-Gwen appeared on that playable roster. That establishes only who was named as playable for the beta; it does not rule out background art or other non-playable references in the game.

- An unmasked head option, numerous web options, stand with logo, and dynamic action posability put you right in the drama
For context, NetEase’s April 26, 2024 closed-alpha update also listed the characters playable in that earlier test, and neither appeared there. The alpha roster is separate from the beta roster and should not be treated as a statement about later plans.
Does an Easter egg mean either character is coming?
No. A reference to a Marvel character, even if intentional, does not by itself confirm that the character will become playable. The beta report offers an interpretation of environmental details, not a developer announcement or a release commitment.

A January 2026 Reddit discussion about a different, later Spider-Gwen-like map detail shows fans debating whether environmental art is a teaser. That conversation is informal community interpretation, not evidence about the 2024 beta details or NetEase’s plans.

- Reported: Players and a gaming outlet interpreted beta environmental details as possible Deadpool and Spider-Gwen references.
- Officially listed as playable: Neither character appeared on NetEase’s published closed-beta roster.
- Confirmed by the developer: The available sources do not provide a NetEase explanation identifying the details or confirming their intended meaning.
NetEase described Marvel Rivals as a free-to-play team-based PvP shooter in its March 28, 2024 announcement. That establishes the game’s format, but does not verify the alleged Easter eggs.
