Stencil Parts are the material ARC Raiders uses when you apply a learned Weapon Stencil to a compatible weapon. They do not improve damage, handling, armor penetration, or any other gameplay statistic. Embark’s Frozen Trail 2.0 update says the parts are found Topside, but it does not publish the number required per application, named best locations, container types, creatures, drop rates, or an average farming time.
The mechanic is therefore straightforward even though the economy is not fully documented: learn a Weapon Stencil, collect Stencil Parts during Topside runs, and spend the parts to place the cosmetic pattern on a weapon. The decorated weapon remains lootable; if you are downed, another Raider can take that weapon, including its applied stencil.

What Stencil Parts do
A Stencil Part is an in-game crafting-style material tied to the Weapon Stencil customization system introduced with the Frozen Trail update. Its purpose is narrow: it pays the material cost of applying a Weapon Stencil to a compatible weapon.
A Weapon Stencil is the cosmetic pattern itself. Once you have learned or unlocked a stencil, you can use it on eligible weapons, but the application consumes Stencil Parts. The stencil and the part are not interchangeable items: the stencil supplies the appearance, while the parts supply the material cost for putting that appearance on a weapon.

Embark describes Stencils as personalization rather than equipment progression. Applying one does not turn a weapon into a stronger version, and there is no published indication that Stencil Parts affect weapon statistics, durability, rarity, recoil, ammunition, or attachments.
How the Weapon Stencil process works
1. Obtain and learn a Weapon Stencil
You first need access to a Weapon Stencil. The launch lineup contains 14 stencils, divided into three availability groups: five exclusive to the Frozen Trail Premium Pass, one exclusive to downloadable content, and eight obtainable Topside. Those numbers describe how players obtain the stencils, not how many Stencil Parts exist or how many parts an application costs.
2. Confirm that the weapon is compatible
Stencils apply only to compatible weapons. The available material does not establish a universal rule covering every weapon, weapon class, or skin, so check the weapon-customization interface for the particular gun you want to decorate rather than assuming every stencil fits every weapon.

3. Apply the stencil and pay the material cost
Choose the learned stencil in the weapon-customization flow and confirm the application. This is the point at which Stencil Parts are required. Embark’s wording is explicit: “Applying Stencils requires Stencil Parts, which can be found Topside.” The update does not state whether the game charges one part, several parts, or a different amount for different stencils.
4. Take the decorated weapon into a raid
The result is an appearance change, not a performance upgrade. A decorated weapon can still be lost in the normal extraction-shooter risk cycle. If you are downed, another Raider may loot the weapon and its stencil, so applying a rare-looking pattern does not protect the gun or make it recoverable.

Where to find Stencil Parts
What the official guidance confirms
The official acquisition instruction is broad: Stencil Parts can be found Topside. In practical terms, that means you should search and scavenge during surface expeditions rather than looking for a menu-only reward or assuming the material is purchased from a pass.
“Topside” is an acquisition category, not a named farming route. The Frozen Trail 2.0 notes do not identify a particular map sector, building, container, enemy, weather condition, or mission that produces the material more reliably.

What community item references add
Community item references classify Stencil Parts as an Epic item and list scavenging as a source. They report no crafting recipe and say the item cannot be recycled or salvaged. Those details are useful for inventory planning, but they are community-maintained rather than a complete official drop table.
What is still unknown
No reviewed source establishes a drop percentage, a guaranteed container, a creature drop, a minimum or maximum quantity per run, or an average time to obtain enough parts for an application. Do not treat a player-made list of “best” rooms or containers as an official route unless a later patch note documents it.
The safest supported approach is to loot normally while Topside, keep any Stencil Parts you find, and extract them instead of risking an unnecessary fight solely to chase an unconfirmed spawn. That advice follows the confirmed source category without inventing a location or rate.

Because the exact charge is unknown, do not convert the launch count of 14 stencils into an estimate of 14 parts, 14 applications, or any other cost. The two figures describe different systems.
How the 14 launch stencils relate to Stencil Parts
Frozen Trail launched with 14 Weapon Stencils. The official breakdown is:

Only the last row in the availability breakdown describes a Topside source for the stencil itself. The update separately says Stencil Parts can be found Topside. Those statements should not be merged into a claim that every stencil, or every part, comes from the same container or activity.
What happens if you lose the weapon
Embark specifically warns that a downed player’s weapon can be looted by another Raider along with its stencil. The warning matters because Stencil Parts represent a material spend on an item that remains exposed to the normal raid-loss rules.
Before applying a pattern, consider the weapon’s role in your next run. A cosmetic application makes the most sense on a compatible weapon you expect to use and extract with, not on a gun you are carrying into a high-risk fight only to display the pattern. The source material does not state whether an applied stencil is automatically retained in every loss scenario, whether it can be removed for a refund, or whether moving the same stencil to another weapon has a special rule. Do not assume any of those protections.

What Stencil Parts cannot currently do
- They are not a weapon upgrade. They do not grant documented combat statistics or change the gun’s performance.
- They are not the stencil unlock. Possessing parts does not by itself grant a particular cosmetic pattern.
- They are not a substitute for pass or DLC access. The five Premium Pass exclusives and one DLC-exclusive stencil have separate availability conditions.
- They are not a confirmed crafting ingredient for another item. No recipe is listed in the cited community reference.
- They are not confirmed salvage value. The community reference reports that they cannot be recycled or salvaged.
- They are not a guaranteed insurance system. Applying a stencil does not prevent another Raider from looting the decorated weapon after you are downed.
A sensible way to manage the material
Save parts until you know the target weapon
Because the per-application charge has not been published, avoid spending parts speculatively. Decide which compatible weapon you actually use before confirming an application.
Separate cosmetic goals from progression goals
If your immediate objective is stronger combat performance, Stencil Parts are not the material to prioritize: the confirmed benefit is visual only. Gather them when convenient, but do not treat them as an upgrade component.
Extract rather than chase rumors
Topside scavenging is confirmed; a particular “best” route is not. Keep the parts that enter your inventory and leave safely when the risk of losing the run outweighs the value of searching another unverified container.
Check the live interface before committing
The game’s customization screen is the authoritative place to see whether a stencil fits a weapon and what the current application prompt requests. Patch changes may add costs, recipes, or sources that were absent from the October 8, 2026 Frozen Trail 2.0 notes.

Common misunderstandings
“Topside” does not mean “one known map location”
Topside is the official broad source description. Without a published drop table, naming a specific district or container as guaranteed would overstate the evidence.

The 14-stencil launch count is not a cost
Fourteen is the number of Weapon Stencils listed at launch. It says nothing about the number of Stencil Parts required per application or the number a player can find in a run.
A cosmetic item can still carry risk
Although Stencils do not affect performance, the weapon displaying one is still lootable. Cosmetic personalization does not change the downed-player loot rule.
Community classifications are not the same as complete patch documentation
“Epic,” “scavenging,” and “cannot be recycled or salvaged” come from community item references. They should be treated as current community reporting, while the core application mechanic and Topside statement come from Embark’s official update.
Bottom line for players
Use Stencil Parts only for their documented job: applying learned Weapon Stencils to compatible weapons. Find them by scavenging Topside, but do not expect an official answer yet on exact quantities, drop locations, or rates. Since the result is cosmetic and the decorated weapon can be looted after you are downed, spend the material on a weapon you genuinely want to carry rather than treating Stencil Parts as a progression resource.
